Sabetha Girls Tennis Wins Triangular Against Hiawatha & Hayden

The rackets were swinging on Thursday in Sabetha as the lady Bluejays tennis team played host to Hiawatha and Hayden in a Triangular competition. 

Sabetha led the way in the action taking first as a team in the Triangular led by three 2-0 performances in four of the competitions. Between Singles #1 and Singles #2 it was overall a 4-0 day for the Bluejays. Kirsten Wenger went 2-0 in Singles #1 action beating Hayden 8-1 and topping Hiawatha 8-1. While Ashten Halls went 2-0 in Singles #2 with a 8-6 win over Hayden and 8-3 victory over Hiawatha. In Doubles #1 action the tandem of Brooklyn Bauman and Savanna Osthoff put together a 2-0 day on the courts winning 8-4 over Hayden and 8-1 over Hiawatha. The team of Deborah Edelman and Hannah Whittaker competed in Doubles #2 action for Sabetha and posted a 1-1 day beating Hiawatha 8-0 while falling 3-8 to Hayden. 

Bluejays also had a few other competitors compete against each other in doubles action not part of the Triangular competition.

Hiawatha Red Hawks on the day were led by Maddy Gruber who competed in Singles #1 action and went 1-1 with a 8-2 win over Hayden. In Singles #2 Syndey Lowe was in action falling in a pair of tough matches, while the team of Bethany Meyers and Katey Lay competed in Doubles #1 went 0-2. Emily Meisenheimer and Laurel Madere were in action in the Doubles #2 competition and posted a 0-2 falling in a pair of tough battles. 

Both teams will hit the court again to continue the season when Hiawatha hosts Invitational action on Saturday, September 9th.
