Sixteen Area High School Basketball Teams Ranked in Latest KBCA Rankings

As mid-season tournament time is upon us in the State of Kansas for high school basketball the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association rankings have been released and the polls feature 16 area teams this week. 

Class 1A-Division I continues to be littered with area teams in the rankings with eight of the 16 area teams ranked coming from the 1A-DI level. Four girls and four boys area teams remain in the polls this week at 1A-DI level. On the boys side the Hanover boys continue to hold the #1 spot and sit at 7-0 after beating Valley Heights last week, while the Hanover girls lost to Valley Heights last week falling to 6-1 and move down one spot to #2. Centralia girls and boys are both ranked this week again too as the lady Panthers beat Clifton-Clyde last week to move to 8-1 and check in ranked #3 again, while the boys are down one spot to #6 after falling to Clifton-Clyde last week and opening the TVL Tournament with a win over Troy to move to 7-3. 

Doniphan West boys have been ranked all year and continue to be featured in the 1A-DI polls coming in at #5 down one spot after beating Frankfort last week. While the Valley Falls girls beat Horton and Mclouth last week to move to 7-2 on the year and continue to rank #9 in the 1A-DI polls. 

Four area teams continue be in the Class 4A-Division II rankings with three in the girls poll again this week. The Holton girls topped Hiawatha and Sabetha last week to move to 9-1 and rank #2 in the 4A-DII polls again. While Marysville girls are up one spot to #4 after beating Concordia last week to move to 8-1 on the season. Jeff West girls snagged wins against Perry Lecompton and Hiawatha to improve to 8-2 and also jumped up one spot to #5 in 4A-DII. On the boys side Marysville remains ranked #7 and sits at 7-2 after beating Concordia last week. 

Nemaha Central girls and boys continue to highlight Class 3A for the area in the rankings both once again checking in at #3 in the polls and both sitting at 8-1. The ladies topped Wamego last week while the boys suffered their first loss falling to Wamego in Overtime. Maur Hill-Mount Academy boys have jumped into the rankings for the first time this year coming in at #8 in the 3A rankings and sit at 7-1 after beating Pleasant Ridge last week. 

Only one area team remains in the Class 2A rankings this week and it's the Jefferson County North Charger boys who are up one spot to #8 and are 7-1 on the season after beating Oskaloosa and falling to Jackson Heights last week.
