2018 Legion Baseball Zone Tournament Assignments – A Zone, AA Zone, AAA Zone

Less than two weeks left before Zone tournament play and the legion baseball season rolled along on Tuesday night in the Northeast Kansas League. 

Silver Lake picked up a pair of wins over Hiawatha winning 7-1 in game one and then were awarded a forfeit win over Hiawatha also for the doubleheader sweep. 

Marysville also earned a win on Tuesday beating Beatrice (NE) 7-2 in non-league action. 

Silver Lake Sweeps Hiawatha to Continue Strong Season
The wins continued to pile up for Silver Lake in the legion baseball season as they hosted Hiawatha and earned a 7-2 and forfeit win on Tuesday. 

Josh Boyd was strong on the mound in game one helping guide Silver Lake to the win, while Hiawatha with only eight players decided to forfeit the second game of the doubleheader. 

The wins move Silver Lake to 28-2 on the season, while Hiawatha went to 2-14 on the season. 

Marysville Takes Non-League Showdown with Beatrice
Marysville stepped outside of the Northeast Kansas League on Tuesday night and traveled to Beatrice (NE) for a contest and picked up the 7-2 win. 

Both teams tallied a run in the second inning and Marysville took the lead scoring three runs in the top of the third as Jayton Haggard blasted a three-run homer in the frame. Beatrice cut the lead to 4-2 with a run in the fifth but Marysville added insurance runs in the sixth with one run and two more in the seventh to secure the 7-2 win. 

Storm Slupianek earned the win for Marysville on the mound tossing four and two-thirds innings, while Brennan Wetter led the way on offense going 3-4 at the plate. Owen Nietfeld and Jonny Crome each chipped in a pair of hits. 

Marysville with the victory improved 17-6 on the season.
