The Silver Lake girls basketball team opened the 3A State Tournament in Hutchinson on Thursday afternoon with a dominate 75-38 win over Haven.

The Eagles (24-0) have been arguably the most dominant team among any classifications in the state this season and it continued against the Wildcats (16-8).

Silver Lake posted a 17-1 run in the first quarter and never looked back as they led the game 24-5 after one and 41-13 at halftime.

They would lead 58-28 going into the fourth quarter and both teams were able to go deep into the bench to get some extra players some playing time.

The Eagles got 18 points from both MaKenzie McDaniel and McKinley Kruger. McDaniel finished with nine rebounds and three blocked shots while Kruger got all of her points by hitting six three-pointers in the game.

Kailyn Hanni posted strong numbers as well for the Eagles finishing with 12 points, eight assists, five steals, two rebounds, and zero turnovers.

Silver Lake shot 49% from the floor in the game and hit eight three-pointers. The defense held Haven to just 31.8% from the field and 0-of-8 from three-point range. The Wildcats were led in the game by Sienna DeFrain as she finished with 20 points and four rebounds.

Silver Lake will play the winner of Heritage Christian/Topeka Hayden on Friday, March 8th at 4:00 PM in the semifinals. That ballgame will be available live on KNZA 103.9 FM from the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
