Silver Lake Girls Post Big Second Half vs. Hayden to Advance to 3A State Title Game

The Silver Lake girls basketball team used a big second half to pull away from Hayden 64-49 to advance to Saturday's Class 3A State Championship game. 

Silver Lake (25-0) trailed by three points at the end of the first quarter but outscored the Wildcats (20-5) by five in the second quarter to take a 29-27 halftime lead. 

Silver Lake would not trail the rest of the game as they would build a lead as high as 15 points in the early stages of the fourth quarter. They would outscore the Wildcats 35-22 in the second half. 

McKenzie McDaniel led Silver Lake with a monster game finishing with 20 points and 12 rebounds while adding three blocks and three steals. Kailyn Hanni finishing with 12 points and eight assists while McKinley Kruger also finished with 12 points along with four assists. 

Kaylee Deiter hit some big three-point shots and finished with 11 points and nine rebounds and Kaibryn Kruger finished with nine points. 

The Eagles shot 47.9% (23-48) in the game, they hit 31% (5-16) of their three-point shots, and they connected on 76% (13-17) of their free throw attempts. 

Hayden was led in the game by Amelia Ramsey who finished with 20 points and seven rebounds. The Wildcats hit 32.7% (17-52) of their shots and connected on 40% (8-20) of their three-point shots. They were also solid at the free throw line hitting seven of their nine attempts. 

Hayden will play Goodland or Hesston in the 3A State Championship game on Saturday, March 9th at 6:15 PM with the broadcast available live on KNZA 103.9 FM. 

The Eagles are in search of their first State Championship since 2016.
