2025 is on the way and just a couple days fresh off New Year's the Frankfort Wildcats went on the road to play their seventh game already this season against the Hanover Wildcats. The number one ranked team in class 1A D2 in the Hanover Girls were looking to stay undefeated on the season last night, and they managed just that with a big 55-25 win. This was followed up by a Hanover Boys team looking to capture their second win of the season, which they earned from a second-quarter comeback to hold the lead for the rest of the way.

Girls - Hanover over Frankfort 55-25

The opening quarter was a slaughter for Frankfort, as they were down 24-6 immediately heading into the second quarter. In the first quarter alone, Anna Jueneman had seventeen points, 12 of which came off the three-point line. Jueneman was on fire for that entire first quarter, hitting four straight threes without a miss. She came into the night with only four on the season.

The second quarter was a smaller scoring budget for both sides as Hanover would out-score Frankfort in the second 12-3.

Exiting out of the 36-9 halftime score the Frankfort Wildcats did have their best quarter in the third, posting up ten but still allowing fifteen to Hanover.

The game ended 55-25 with Hanover pulling out all of their starters for nearly the entirety of the fourth quarter. Hanover finished the game with five total threes and Frankfort finally put up two threes in the second half from Ashlyn Dalinghaus and Tessa Parthemer.

Hanover won both the rebound and turnover battle last night and even won the player of the game, with Anna Jueneman having an outstanding thirty-one-point performance complemented with eight rebounds and a couple of steals (ALL STATS NOT APPROXIMATE). Leigh Jueneman would finish the game with seven points, and Gracie Bruna would finish with five, as some other notable scoring mentions. Loralei Loiseau and Tessa Parthemer led the scoring for Frankfort with seven points each, and Ashlyn Dalinghaus trailed quickly behind with six.

Boys - Hanover over Frankfort 60-50

Exactly half a decade ago, five years ago, Frankfort managed a huge win over Hanover, however, they have not won a game against them since. Unfortunately for Frankfort last night they couldn’t put together the four quarters they would have wanted. The Frankfort Wildcats did come out the gate swinging with a solid first quarter taking the lead 13-11 before heading into the second. The quarter ended with a massive screen, jump, turn, and shoot three-pointer from Wes Anderson who had seven points by himself in the opening quarter.

It was in the second quarter. However, as the Hanover Wildcats were playing from behind just 21-17, they managed to score fourteen out of the last fifteen points of the half, heading into the locker room up 31-22. To end the half, the Hanover Wildcats took a page out of the Frankfort textbook from the first quarter, and Tanner Bruna stepped up with a massive three before the buzzer went off.

After being out-scored in the second quarter 20-9 Frankfort would try to respond by out-scoring Hanover 20-18 in the third quarter, keeping it a close game of 49-42 heading into the final quarter. Seven points would be as close as Frankfort would get, as after the fifth lead change of the game going to Hanover in the second quarter they did not look back and dominated straight to the final tally of 60-50.

Braylon Meyn finished with twenty-one points and five boards while Garret Martin would put up fourteen points and a handful of rebounds. Wes Anderson would lead the scoring for Frankfort with nineteen, getting help from his two threes and his nine-of-ten free-throw performance. Lane Loiseau finished with eighteen points and from the line, he went four-of-eight (ALL STATS NOT APPROXIMATE).

Summary

The Hanover Girls continue to prove why they are number one of class 1A D2 as they now sit 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in league play, while the Hanover boys stay also undefeated in league play at 2-0 but now on the overall just 2-3. Frankfort Boys drop to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in league play on the season and will look to bounce back on Tuesday. The Frankfort Girls are now just a game above .500 at 4-3 while also being 1-1 in TVL play. Hanover will play Blue Valley Randolph on Tuesday at home and the Frankfort Wildcats will aim to bounce back with their second home game on the season against both talented Boys and Girls Valley Heights teams.
