Royal Valley Girls and Holton Boys Victorious in Big East League Play

It was Holton hosting Royal Valley on Tuesday night in Big East league play with the broadcasts on both 103.9 KNZA and the Holton Channel courtesy of MSC Sports. 

Girls: Royal Valley 55, Holton 50 

This game was back and forth from the jump with Holton leading the game 13-10 after the first quarter. 

Royal Valley came back in the second quarter to outscore Holton 18-10 to take a 28-23 halftime lead. 

Royal Valley kept the lead at four at 41-37 going into the fourth quarter and the Panthers were able to make some key plays down the stretch to hold on for the win. 

Holton was down two with the ball with under two minutes to play but the Panthers got a turnover followed by a bucket to lead by four, and then they forced another quick turnover and that was a key moment down the home stretch. 

KiWe Miller led Royal Valley with 21 points and eight rebounds while Panno Wahwassuck added 16 points and four rebounds. 

Holton had four players in double figures led by Elizabeth Schuster with 15 points and six rebounds. Brooke Willcott scored 12, Kaiya Taylor scored 11, and Lili Tanking added 10. 

Boys: Royal Valley 38, Holton 55 

The difference in this game was the first half as the Wildcats scored the first nine points of the game and would lead 15-7 after the first quarter. 

They would add to it with an 11-4 second quarter advantage to lead the game 26-11 at halftime. 

Royal Valley played a much better second half as Holton outscored Royal Valley 29-27 in the second half but the first half runs were key for the Wildcats win. 

Brayden Peek scored 17 points and added eight rebounds to lead Holton while Luke Lassey off the bench provided 15 points. 

Royal Valley was led by Landon Gilbert with 10 points and seven rebounds while Trystan Murata and Jaxson Stevens each pitched in with seven points.
