The Holton volleyball team opened up their season on Saturday at the Marysville Invitational and picked up a second place finish. 

The Wildcats finished the tournament going 5-1 with their lone loss coming in the championship against Clay Center 11-25, 16-25. 

Holton was perfect in pool which included a victory over Clay Center but the Tigers were able to get redemption in the title match. 

Holton also had pool play victories against Royal Valley, Cheney, and Sabetha. 

Riley County went 4-0 in their pool play with wins over Nemaha Central, Valley Heights, Marysville, and Concordia. 

The Falcons lost to Clay Center in the semifinals 25-21, 15-25, 16-25 but bounced back and defeated Concordia 25-21, 25-16 in the third place match. 

Other notable pool play results: Nemaha Central (1-3), Valley Heights (1-3), Royal Valley (1-3), and Sabetha (1-3).
