KSHSAA Releases New Classification Changes for 2025-2026 and Football for 2026 and 2027

The Kansas State High School Activities Association have released the football classification changes for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. 

The updated 3A classification will have Atchison moving down from 4A and Nemaha Central moving up from 2A. 

The updated 2A classification will have Pleasant Ridge and Marysville moving down from 3A while Horton moves up from 1A. 

The updated 1A classification will have Atchison County and St. Marys moving down from 2A. 

Finally, the updated 8M-II classification will have Troy who bumps down from the 1A classification and transition to 8-man football. 

In terms of overall classification changes for 2025-2026 in all other sports this year - Holton down from 4A to 3A, Pleasant Ridge up from 2A to 3A, Oskaloosa up from 2A to 3A, St. Marys down from 3A to 2A, ACCHS down from 3A to 2A, and Washington County up from 1A to 2A.
