| It was a picture perfect Thursday afternoon for the Holton Volleyball team at the Class 3A State Tournament in Hutchinson.  The Wildcats went a perfect 3-0 in pool play to advance to Saturday's semifinals at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.  The Cats dropped the first set in their first match of the day against Hoisington 20-25 but rallied to win the last two sets 25-17 & 25-22.  In the second match they took care of business in a big way against Riverton picking up the sweep 25-16 & 25-7 and they would follow that with a 35-33 & 25-19 win against Osage City to cap off the perfect day in pool play.  This is the third consecutive season for Holton to be at the state tournament but the first time in that stretch in the 3A classification. It's also the first time in school history that the volleyball team has made three straight state tournaments.  Holton will take on Wichita Trinity Academy in the semifinals on Saturday morning at 9 AM with the consolation and championship matches to follow. Fellow Big East league member, top seed, and number one ranked Silver Lake is in the other semifinal against Hoisington.  You can watch the replay of all three matches for Holton in pool play on the Holton Channel.  |
