Hanover Boys End Axtell’s TVL Tournament Champion Streak in Dominating Fashion

The Hanover Boys have taken down yet another streak from the Axtell Eagles, ending their three-year consecutive TVL tournament champion streak. It was a dominant win that ended with a rolling clock in the fourth quarter to secure the championship title for Hanover. 

Axtell would take the first lead 8-4 over Hanover in the first quarter, but would finish the quarter down 20-10 to Hanover. Hanover would go on a scoring stretch of 20-2 in the first half before Axtell would start making it competitive again with Login Sandmann scoring four points in the second quarter and Shaunessy hitting a deep three to finish with five points in the second quarter. The half would end 42-27 as Hanover would find a spark with two threes from Jack Bruna, as he would finish the first half with four threes. 

Hanover outscored Axtell in the third quarter 19-9 to continue to separate the scoring, heading into the fourth quarter up 61-36. Braylon Meyn scored seven points, and Cooper Bruna scored eight in the third quarter. 

The Hanover Wildcats ended the game 75-48, forcing a running clock in the final minutes of the game. Braylon Meyn finished with 22 points for Hanover, while Cooper Bruna finished with 24 points and two threes. Axtell was led by Logan Sandmann and Landon Schmitz with eight points apiece.

Hanover continues to reign supreme as the #1 ranked team in Class 1A Dll at now 13-0. Axtell’s 35-game winning streak comes to an end as they fall to 12-1. The two teams will match back up in just two weeks on Febuary the 6th for a rematch, which will be on 92.1 KMZA.
