The Rossville boys basketball team are back in the State Tournament.
Sub-State Title Game at Mission Valley
KC Christian 49
Rossville 60
The Dawgs and Panthers both got out to slow starts on the offensive end in the first quarter with the game tied 8-8 after one.
After that, it was pretty much Rossville's game to lose. They opened up a 24-13 halftime lead and would extend that out to 45-27 going into the fourth quarter.
KCC made a little push early on in the fourth quarter but the Dawgs lead was to big to overcome.
Jakoby McDonnell led Rossville in the game with 21 points going 9-for-12 at the free throw line. Jack Donovan finished with 15 points while Cameron Miller added 13 points and five rebounds.
KCC was led by Avery Reed with 19 points and six rebounds while Brendan Billings finished with 12 points before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
A key stat in the game was the Rossville defense forcing the Panthers into 20 turnovers.
The Dawgs will be the 7-seed in the 2A State Tournament and will open with the quarterfinals on Wednesday (3/11) in Wichita at Friends University against 2-seed Berean Academy at 4 PM. Coverage of that game will be live on 96.9 The Pulse.
