Clifton Clyde won their 3rd game in a row last week with a 60-12 win against Doniphan West. The Eagles were dominate on both sides of the ball racking up 450 yards of offense and forcing three D-West turnovers. If you take out the lone loss to Little River, Clifton Clyde is averaging over 46 points per game while the defense is surrendering just six points per game.
Washington County dropped to 1-5 overall after a 34-14 loss against Maranatha. It was Maranatha’s first win of the season. It was also the first time in three meetings that Maranatha defeated Washington County.
The Eagles sit atop the 8M-I District 3 standings at 3-0 while Washington County is in a four-way tie for third with a 1-2 district record. Clifton Clyde has won the last two games against Washington County winning 52-6 in 2018 and 48-0 in 2019.

Major implications await tonight’s district three meeting with both teams sitting at 1-2 in district play with the winner locking up at least a three or four seed.
Valley Falls is looking to bounce back after a tough last two weeks where the Dragons were blown out by Clifton Clyde two weeks ago and lost to Burlingame last week 58-12. Valley Falls trailed by just two points after the first quarter but were held scoreless the rest of the way while Burlingame ran for over 250 yards and six touchdowns. Dylan Cervantez ran and threw for touchdowns last week and leads the Dragons offensively with 11 scores.
Doniphan West is in a similar boat as Doniphan West following a 60-12 loss to Clifton-Clyde last week where the Eagles led 22-0 after the first quarter and rolled. The Mustangs allowed over 450 yards of offense and turned the ball over three times. Trent Spiker leads the Mustangs with 19 total touchdowns and nearly 800 yards on the ground.
Doniphan West is 4-2 against Valley Falls dating back to 2004 with the last meeting coming back in 2011.

8-Man Division II(5-1) Frankfort at (6-0) Thunder Ridge (Non-District)#4 in 8M-II in the K-Preps rankings this week,
Frankfort bounced back in a big way after their first loss of the season against Axtell with a 48-8 romp over Hanover last week. It was Frankfort’s first win over Hanover in 10 years. Freshman quarterback Ty Smith making his first start tallied 223 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Frankfort’s defense held Hanover to under 100 yards of total offense.
Thunder Ridge is #2 in the 8M-II rankings from K-Preps behind Axtell and are undefeated at 6-0. They’re coming off a 44-34 win over #4 Osborne last week. The six wins in a row is the longest winning streak for Thunder Ridge since 2007 when they won seven straight.

After an 0-3 start to the season, the Buffaloes have won three straight including a 58-36 win at Beloit-St. John’s Tipton last week. Onaga jumped out to a 16-6 lead in the first quarter and was able to keep Tipton at arm’s length. Zach Fisher ran for 363 yards and six touchdowns in the win while Rilyn Mayginness added 163 yards and two scores.
After an 0-4 start to the season, the Rams of Blue Valley won their second straight game with a 66-44 victory over Wetmore last week racking up over 400 yards of offense in the process. It’s the first time Blue Valley has won back-to-back games since 2018.
Onaga has won the last two meetings in the last two seasons over Blue Valley by a combined score of 118-8.

Linn lost their third straight game last week, 58-8 against #1 Axtell. Axtell put up 46 points in the first quarter. During the three-game losing streak, Linn’s defense is allowing nearly 60 points per game with those losses coming against Axtell, Blue Valley and Onaga.
Hanover lost a third straight game for the first time in 10 years with a 48-8 loss last week at Frankfort. It was also just the 2nd win for Frankfort against Hanover in the last 17 meetings dating back to 2008. Hanover’s defense allowed over 420 yards of offense and nearly 400 rushing yards and was outscored 36-0 after the first quarter.
Hanover sits in a tie for 3rd in District 3 with Onaga while Linn is 4th at 1-3. Hanover has won 11 of the last 12 meetings between the two dating back to 2004 with the last game played in 2017 with Hanover winning, 56-0.

Wetmore is still searching for their first win of the season as they took a loss last week in a shootout against Blue Valley, 66-44. It’s now eight straight losses dating back to last season for the Cardinals.
Axtell remains the #1 team in 8M-II after they coasted to a 58-8 victory over Linn last week. Quarterback Isaac Detweiler rushed for a touchdown, threw for another score and ran back a punt for a touchdown. Grady Buessing contributed on the defensive side with a pick-six. Axtell will be looking for their 7th straight win which would be the longest winning streak for the Eagles since 2004.
Axtell sits atop the district while Wetmore is at the bottom looking up. Axtell has won the last five meetings against Wetmore while averaging nearly 57 points per game.

(3-3, 1-3) Troy at (4-2, 3-1) Jeff County North (D2)
Troy is looking to completely flip the script after an abysmal offensive showing in a 12-0 loss to Valley Heights last week. The defense was outstanding, but the offense was only able to muster around 65 total yards of offense. Cam Anderson went over 1,000 yards passing last week with 13 touchdowns with his favorite target Jerritt Norris over 500 yards receiving.
Jefferson County North bounced back last week after a loss to Centralia with an important district win at Wabaunsee, 30-11. Blake Fowler rushed for over 200 yards and four touchdowns in the win and for that was one of our athletes of the week. Jefferson County North is in 2nd place in District 2 with a 3-1 record behind Centralia who is a perfect 5-0.
Troy has won 11 of the last 15 meetings in the series but JCN has won the last two including and 52-3 victory last season.

(3-3, 2-2) Jackson Heights at (2-3, 2-3) Valley Heights (D2)
No matter what the score shows, Jackson Heights hung right with No. 1-ranked Olpe last week in the first half before ultimately falling 35-0. The Cobras trailed just 14-0 at the half and gave themselves chances to score but three key interceptions halted any chance with the offense recording just 85 yards of offense.
Valley Heights snapped a two-game slide with a 12-0 win last week at Troy. It was the Mustangs third straight win over Troy, and they’ve also won four of the last five. Trenton L’Ecuyer scored both touchdowns for Valley Heights and the defense held Troy to just 65 yards of offense.
It’s an important district game between these two as they’re settled in the middle of the pack right now. The winner could potentially be in a tie for second place after tonight depending on the outcomes of the JCN and Wabaunsee games.
Jackson Heights has won eight of the last 11 games in the series, but Valley Heights picked up the victory last season, 56-15.

This is a huge game for Wabaunsee who currently sits 2-2 in district play with the Chargers holding a chance to wrap up at least the third seed in district two with a win. The Chargers are looking to rebound after an extremely disappointing loss to Jeff County North last week 30-11. Senior quarterback Cade Oliver threw for 218 yards and a touchdown in the loss and has thrown for 877 yards and 10 scores this season.
Horton had a tough matchup last week falling on the road at Centralia 62-7. The Chargers got a strong performance from Jack Allen, while Trey Lockwood continues to lead the way as he has all season.
Wabaunsee won going away last season 59-8 which was the only meeting dating back to 2004.

Centralia continues to roll along as they tallied their 5th straight win last week against Horton, 62-7. It was the first time Centralia and Horton played since 2005. Panthers outgained Horton 322-160 and had 253 rushing yards. Five different Panthers had a rushing touchdown in the win while the defense forced four turnovers including three interceptions.
Lyndon won their second straight game last week with a 48-0 beat down over Central Heights. The Tigers two losses came in the first three weeks of the season against Osage City and 1A #1 Olpe.
Before last season, Centralia and Lyndon had played just once since 2006. Last season these two teams met twice. Centralia won the regular season matchup 48-17 but it was Lyndon who won the matchup in the playoffs ending the Panthers season 26-14.

Riverside is coming off a second straight week of playing well but ultimately falling to ACCHS 32-13. The Cyclones led 13-6 at the half but gave up too many big plays in the second half and allowed over 350 total yards. Todrick Duncan and Kobe Davis each ran for touchdowns last week as the Cyclones compiled 265 yards.
After a 30-12 loss against St. Marys two weeks ago, the Thunder of Nemaha Central picked up a big win last week at Maur Hill, 66-7. The difference in the game was the second quarter as Nemaha Central hung up 33 points and the defense held the Ravens to just 158 yards of offense. Thunder have now won six of the last seven against Maur Hill dating back to 2006.
Nemaha Central is in a tie for 2nd place in District 4 with a 2-1 record while St. Marys is unbeaten at 3-0. Nemaha Central has dominated the series with Riverside winning the last eight games dating back to 2014. The Thunder took care of business last season against Riverside winning 48-8.

(3-2, 2-1) Republic County at (5-1, 2-1) ACCHS (D4 / KAIR 93.7)
ACCHS improved to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in district play with a 32-13 win last week over Riverside. Kieran Courter ran for 156 yards and two touchdowns while Bricen Lee had 77 yards and a score while throwing for two more. The victory clinched ACCHS their first winning season since 2012.
The Buffaloes of Republic County was shut out last week by St. Marys, 46-0. There other loss was back in week three against Minneapolis while the three wins have come against Ellsworth, Maur Hill and Riverside.
ACCHS, Republic County and Nemaha Central are all 2-1 in district play and a game behind St. Marys who is a perfect 3-0.

(0-6, 0-3, 0-3 NEKL) Oskaloosa at (4-2, 2-1, 3-1 NEKL) Pleasant Ridge (D3)
Oskaloosa is still searching for their first win of the season as they lost last week to Mission Valley, 40-12. It was the first time this season that the Bears scored over 10 points and it also snapped a streak of three consecutive shut out losses.
Pleasant Ridge took one on the chin at 2A #1 Rossville last week losing 56-6. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Rams which was there first three game winning streak since the 2015 season when they won eight games.
The Rams are in 2nd place in District 3 with a 2-1 record as Rossville and Silver Lake are perfect in district play. Pleasant Ridge has won 12 of the last 13 games in this series dating back to 2006 with the Rams winning last season 44-0. Oskaloosa’s lone win in that span was in 2016.

McLouth dropped to 0-4 on the season with a 63-6 loss at Silver Lake last week. The Bulldogs did find the endzone for the first time this season after being shutout in their first three games. McLouth has now lost 12 consecutive games.
The Vikings of Mission Valley picked up their first win of the season last week with a 40-12 win at Oskaloosa. Mission Valley tallied over 450 yards of offense in the win including 240 passing yards.
Both teams are in the bottom half of District 3. Mission Valley picked up the win last year over McLouth, 38-0.

(5-1, 3-0) Hayden at (4-2, 3-0) Perry Lecompton (D3)
A district championship is on the line in this game with both teams entering the contest with 3-0 district records.
Perry Lecompton has three straight solid victories including a 48-8 beat down of Osawatomie last week racking up nearly 350 yards of offense. Gunnar ball threw for 224 yards and two TDs while Reichen Rush ran for 88 yards and three scores. Ball has thrown for over 800 yards this season with 12 touchdowns while Rush has run for 600 yards and five scores.
Hayden meanwhile is 5-1 with their only loss coming to Seaman 35-14 in week two and coming off a 49-6 win over Santa Fe Trail last week. The Wildcats feature a balanced attack passing for 160 yards and rushing for 156 last week.
The Kaws and Wildcats have played five times since 2018 including twice last season with Perry Lecompton winning the regular season meeting 10-0 but Hayden in the playoffs 20-7.

The third spot in district four is on the line tonight with both teams holding 1-2 records in district four.
Sabetha got back on track last week and snapped a 3-game losing streak with a dominant 56-0 victory over Royal Valley as the Bluejays got up two scores early and never looked back. Josh Herrman ran for 112 yards and three touchdowns while Matthew Garber threw for two more.
Jeff West meanwhile suffered their second straight blowout loss last week following to Rock Creek 61-6. Jeff West committed three turnovers and had no answer for Rock Creek's offense while Sam Broxterman ran for 74 yards in the loss.
Sabetha has won five straight over Jeff West dating back to 2014 including a 32-7 win last season.

It's a must win for the Panthers and Redhawks to get into the 3A playoff bracket and both teams are trying to get back on track after turnover struggles last week.
Hiawatha was down 42-0 at halftime in Holton before posting a 14-6 second half better showing but the Hawks tossed four interceptions and ran for less than 30 yards. Brandt Barnhill passed for just over 120 yards and now has 500 passing yards this season.
Royal Valley was shutout for the second straight week and fourth time this season losing 56-0 at Sabetha. The Panthers have lost five straight games by an average margin of 47-2.
Royal Valley had won three straight and five of the last six games in this series before Hiawatha won last years meeting 28-14.

Holton continues to improve and roll along undefeated and last week came out on fire with a 28-0 first quarter blitz to put Hiawatha away turning a 42-0 halftime lead into a 48-14 home win. The Wildcat defense had four interceptions and two of them were returned for touchdowns by Jayden Fletcher and Lucas Adcock. Matt Lierz completed two passes in the first quarter to Garyson Booth for 109 yards before giving way to JV players in the second half. Booth is one of four players with more than 300 yards rushing this season for the Cats, who are led by Fletcher with 543 as well as Lierz and Jace Boswell.
Rock Creek has won four straight after opening the season with losses to Silver Lake and Rossville. In simliar opponent matchups, the Mustangs shutout Hiawatha 48-0 and also beat Sabetha by 14. Last week Rock Creek thumped Jeff West 61-6 and is now averaging 37 points per game in their spread aerial attack. Dalton Whitworth has completed 101-186 attempts for 1,460 yards with fellow junior Ethan Burgess the top receiver hauling in 32 catches for 656 yards this season.
In the schools first football meeting last year, Holton jumped to a 20-0 lead after one quarter and 34-7 halftime lead before coasting to a 41-21 win.

Marysville dropped to 1-4 overall with a 32-6 loss at undefeated Concordia last week. It was the first time since 2017 that Marysville took a loss to Concordia.
The Clay Center Tigers Have lost four straight since a 2-0 to the season, losing last week against Chapman 20-19. One of those losses included a 3-overtime loss to Wamego. One of their two wins was against Jefferson West.
Marysville has won 13 of the last 17 meeting dating back to 2004 and have won six straight including last season, 20-0.

(5-1, 3-0 KCA) Atchison at (0-5, 0-2 KCA) KC Schlagle
Atchison continues to cruise as they won last week against KC Sumner 35-14 running their win streak to five. Atchison led 21-14 at halftime but added two touchdowns in the third quarter and held Sumner scoreless the rest of the way. Jesse Greenly ran for 121 yards and three scores and caught another from Jeter Purdy. Two wins in the final two weeks will secure Atchison with the KCA league title.
The Stallions of KC Schlagle are 0-5 after dropping their game last week at Wamego, 48-14. They had only scored six points in the four games prior to last week.
Atchison is 4-6 over the last 10 meetings with KC Schlagle and have lost the last three including last season, 33-24. Atchison’s last win in that span was 2016.
