Axtell claimed sub-state championship with an overtime win over B&B. Eagles pushed out to a 26-19 lead at the half but the Falcons responded with a 19-8 3rd quarter to lead it by 4-points going into the 4th quarter. Axtell tied the game at 44-44 to force overtime as B&B missed a three at the end of regulation that would be won the game.
In overtime B&B was up by five before Axtell scored 7 unanswered to take a 2 point lead. Then 1-2 free throws from Taylor Platt the Eagles had held a 3 point lead with under 20 seconds. Then B&B called a timeout which they didn't have giving Axtell two free throws, both made by Aaron Schmelzle and possession with 5 seconds to go.
Payton Heinen lead the Eagles with 26 points, while Schmelzle added 12 points. B&B was lead by Dustin Rottinghaus in the loss with 22 points, while Trent Schulte added 11 points and Curtis Stallbaumer chipped in 10 points.
