It was a thriller to open the season in this Big Seven matchup as Perry Lecompton and Hiawatha needed overtime to decided the winner. The Kaws would miss fire on a PAT in the overtime to give the Red Hawks the season opening win.
Ryker Smith who took over the QB helm this year for Hiawatha was 6-14 passing for 127 yards, while Brendan Steele tallied both Red Hawk TD's coming on 1 & 10-yard runs.
Perry Lecompton quarterback, Seth Surface tossed for 147 yards on 12-20 and tossed a TD pass to Tyler Ball (11-yards). RJ Whitaker lead the Kaws ground attack in the loss rushing for 126 yards and a TD on 19 carries.
