Axtell Eagles topped the #1 team in 8-Man DII to keep their season alive and make the Sub-State action in the playoffs for the first time since 2008, the last time they were in the playoffs. The Eagles trailed twice early, but led 30-20 at the half. Colton Buessing had 27 carries for 156 yards with 4 TDs and was 12-16 for 150 yards, while Shane Talbot chipped in 82 yards on 13 carries with 2 TDs. Tyler Jones ran for 61 yards on 10 carries and recored three turnovers on defense (2 INTs & fumble recovery). Axtell had 3 turnovers.
Chetopa had 4 turnovers in the game, while Sherrick Rogers had a 69-yard INT return TD, 63-yard kick return TD and a 26-yard TD reception from Phillip Moses. Trenton Scott added a TD run for the Hornets.
