Former Sabetha Bluejay Kegan Schumann Has Baker Football One Win Away from Playoffs
Kegan Schumann

For the past several seasons the Baker University football team has dominated the Heart of America Athletic Conference and has been a staple in the NAIA Division I rankings.

This season is no different as the Wildcats are currently ranked No. 14 in the national polls and are off to a 7-2 start and have a spot in the NAIA Football Championship Series in their sights.

A major reason to the success of the Wildcat football program has been the play of former Sabetha Bluejay Kegan Schumann who is in his senior season as the team’s middle linebacker.

Schumann currently leads the Wildcats in tackles on the season with 90, which is 23 more than former Holton Wildcat Indie Allen who is second.

Schumann also has recorded 13.5 tackles for loss, to go along with one interception on the season.

He recorded nine total tackles in the Wildcats 73-14 beat down of Missouri Valley last Saturday and has one 15 tackle game this season which came against Benedictine College on September 29.

Schumann was a stud linebacker and running back in his time as Sabetha, as his senior year he was named First Team All-Big 7 running back, inside linebacker and punter along with 3A All-State honors at linebacker.

Schumann and the Wildcats will look to continue their success as they wrap up the regular season Saturday hosting No. 9 Evangel University in the Heart Game of the Week with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
