With most of the team returning from a successful 2011-12 season, the outlook for the Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat women's golf team looks bright!

Coming off a runner-up performance in their first year of the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) at the HAAC's conference tournament, the 'Cats and head coach Brett Hahn have a desire to improve each week.  The Bobcats used the fall season to work on their individual games and used the off-season to prepare for a spring schedule that will culminate in their efforts to win a HAAC championship.

Five golfers will be returning to a spring squad that has experience from matches in the fall.  The team will be led by senior Jordan Schaardt (Humboldt).  A healthy Schaardt looks to be a strong competitor this spring and should have the capability to earn medals in most meets.  Last year, Schaardt finished second in the HAAC tourney by shooting 83-86 for a two-day total of 169 and was an all-HAAC selection.

Two other HAAC medalists return for the spring. Junior Courtney Musgrave (Omaha) finished just one stroke behind Schaardt at 170 in the HAAC meet after playing her best tournament since becoming a Bobcat.  The other HAAC medalist returning will be graduate student Katie Potter (Omaha).  Potter had her best finish of the season by finishing eighth in the conference meet with a two-day total of 180.  Musgrave and Potter were also all-HAAC selections last year as well.

Junior Jacey Stoner (Alda) is the fourth returner for the Bobcats.  Stoner showed steady improvement in the fall and had one of the best semesters of her career as she shot under 100 on three separate days.  Her best score on 18 holes was a 96 while her best finish was 20th place at the Graceland Invite.

The fifth returner for the 'Cats this spring will be Elizabeth Huls (Beatrice).  Huls was able to gain valuable experience this fall as she competed for the first time as a Bobcat.  Her best score of the fall was a 104, which was good for a 22nd place finish in the Graceland Invite.

Starting his second full year as the Bobcat head coach, Hahn is excited to enter the spring after an up and down fall season due to injuries, illnesses, and academic commitments that forced some golfers to miss meets.  Hahn stated, “We had a very successful first year in the HAAC last season.  Although we accomplished many of our goals, we are in no way finished improving.  Each of the returning members of the golf team has worked very hard in the offseason and I'm very excited to see how it pays off this spring season.”

Hahn concluded, “We have a shorter schedule this spring so we can focus on improving our individual skills that will help us when it comes time for the HAAC Championship. I am excited that the few tournaments, along with adequate practice time, will prepare us for a run at the HAAC title.”

 The Bobcats spring schedule follows:

4/14-4/15/2013 Nebraska Wesleyan Spring Invite Lincoln, Neb. TBA

4/24-4/25/2013 Baker Invitational Lawrence, Kan. TBA

5/6-5/7/2013 HAAC Conference Championship Canton, Mo. 9:00 a.m.
