Kanzaland Area Teams Dominate St. Mary's Boys Golf Invite

Seven area schools had competitors in the St. Mary's golf invitational and dominated that top performances of the day as 13 total schools had competitors in the competition.

The Holton Wildcats continued to lead things on the golf course like they have all season as they won another event title this season, this time by shooting a team score of 322 to nab first place. Fellow Big Seven schools in Nemaha Valley, Jeff West and Sabetha followed up Holton in the team score category finishing second, third and fourth, respectively with scores of 339, 351 and 361. Perry Lecompton and Frankfort-Centralia took home sixth and nineth place overall out of 12 teams, finishing with scores of 389 and 410. (Horton didn't compete in the team competition as they only had three golfers).

Not only the team performances were highlight by area performers but the top individual performances were by area golfers, too. The top six scores, nine of the top ten and 16 of the top 20 scores on the day were from area teams.

Holton lead the way with the top three finishers on the day as Tavin Dugan again took home an individual first place performance shooting a 73, seven strokes better than the second best round on the day which was notched by two of his teammates. Ethan Holaday and Kenton Tegethoff followed Dugan, respectively in second and third both with an 80 on the day. Wildcat, Parker Sides also finished in the top 20 with a 19th place after shooting an 89.

Second place team Nemaha Valley took home three top 20 finishers with Zach Bradley and Trent Olberding finishing fourth and fifth, respectively after shooting 81 and 82 on the day. Caleb Meyer finished right outside the top 10 with an 11th place finish after shooting an 86.

Jeff West was the lone other area team to have three or more top ten finishes individually on the day, lead by Avery Farrant who finished 12th after shooting an 87. His teammates Mitch Flood, Connor Mickens and Aaron Brooks finished 14th, 15th and 18th, respectively on the day. Flood shot an 87, Mickens registered an 88 and Brooks registered an 89.

Sabetha took home fourth place finish as a team and were lead by two top 20 finishers on the day. Nolan Keim lead the Bluejays placed nineth after shooting an 85, while Derek Halls placed 20th after shooting an 89.

Horton, Frankfort and Perry Lecompton each had one top 20 finisher on the day with all three of them finishing in the top 10. For the Chargers it was MaKenzie Knudson who took eighth after shooting an 84, while Danny Mueting placed sixth with a 84 for the Wildcats and Perry Lecompton's, Jacob Morgison placed tenth with an 85.
