Rock Port Graduate Signs to Play Women's Basketball for Peru State

 A recent Rock Port (Mo.) High School graduate is the first official signee to join the Peru State Bobcat women's basketball team for the 2013-14 campaign.

Interim women's coach, Joan Albury, announced that Leslie Kirkland, a 5-11 forward/post player, signed her letter of intent on Friday at the Rock Port High School.

Kirkland, earned Highway 275 All-Conference Honorable Mention as a senior after leading the Blue Jays in rebounds.  As a junior, Kirkland led Rock Port in both scoring and rebounding. 

At Rock Port High, Kirkland also participated in cross country and track and field.  Kirkland was named to the 275 All-Conference Second Team in Cross Country and participated in the Missouri State Cross Country meet.  In addition, Kirkland has received additional recognition in track and field.

At Peru State, Kirkland will start as an undeclared major.  Kirkland is the daughter of Linda Kirkland and Eric and Lynn Chamberlain.
