Six DVL Baseball Players Earn KBAC 2-1A All-State Honors, Valley Falls Named Coach of Year

The high school spring sports season is in the books and the 2012-13 school year has come to an end. With the close of a sports season that usually means postseason honors are given out such as All-State teams and the Kansas Baseball Coaches Association has given out their All-State honors.

Six area athletes earned All-State honors all coming in Class 2-1A and all from the Delaware Valley League.

Valley Falls Dragons lead the way for the area with three of the five area players earning those honors as senior, Kyle Glissman earned first team All-State at first base, while his teammates junior, Luke Burns and senior, Gates Glassel each earned second team honors at second base and relief pitcher positions, respectively. The Dragons finished off the season 15-6 and for the second straight year made the Class 2-1A state tournament under head coach, Jeff Schneider who earned Class 2-1A Coach of the Year honors from the KBAC.

The other three area athletes earning All-State honors hailed from Oskaloosa and McLouth. For the Bears third baseman, Luis Rodriguez a sophomore earned first team All-State honors and second team honors went to Byrce Stottlemire in the out field, while Wyatt Farris, senior for the Bulldogs earned second team honors at ulitity.
