It was a full slate of volleyball action for many area teams on Saturday (September 14th) and it was no different for many Twin Valley League teams as the Frankfort Wildcats played host to four other TVL teams and one other team for a six-team round robin tournament.

The was action throughout the day saw matches in favor of one team or another and handful of close down to the wire matches, also. Of the 15 games played one only went three sets of action on the day.

It was the fourth ranked Class 2A team the Washington County Tigers leading the way on the day cruising to a perfect 5-0 record with their toughest matchup coming against the host Frankfort.

After the Tigers it was a pair of teams finishing 3-2 on the day and a pair of teams finishing 2-3, also with the sixth place team going 0-5 on the day.

The only non-TVL team in the tournament, Veritas Christian took home a 3-2 record as did the Doniphan West Mustangs, but it was Veritas Christian taking second place via the head to head win over the Mustangs, giving Doniphan West third place. Doniphan West registered wins over Frankfort, Onaga and Wetmore in the tournament.

Taking home fourth and fifth were two teams that each finished 2-3 on the day in the Onaga Buffalos and Frankfort Wildcats, with Onaga taking fourth via the head to head win over Frankfort. The Buffalos added a win over Wetmore, also on the day. While, Frankfort registered their wins over Veritas Christian and Wetmore.

The Wetmore Cardinals took home sixth place in the tournament struggling on the day finishing 0-5 in competition, being swept in straight sets in four of the five matches, but did manage to play three sets against Veritas Christian after winning set one.

It was the first tournament action of the season for all the TVL teams competing on the day and with it in the books they now turn their attention back to league action in the coming week.
