Regular season tournament action continued for area teams on Saturday (October 5th) and it was the B&B Falcons continuing to roll this season now having won their last 17 matches on the court as they took the Valley Falls Invite title going 5-0 in competition.

The host, Valley Falls Dragons followed up the Falcons with a second place finish while the only non-area school in Maranatha took home third place. Pair of Twin Valley League teams in Doniphan West and Axtell finished fourth and fifth, respectively while Oskaloosa, Jackson Heights and McLouth rounded out the teams in sixth, seventh and eighth.

In pool play it was B&B cruising in Pool "A" with three straight wins taking down Oskaloosa, Axtell and Doniphan West, to go 3-0 in pool play. The Mustangs of Doniphan West followed them up with a 2-1 pool play record with wins over Axtell and Oskaloosa; needing three sets to top the Bears. Axtell went 1-2 in pool play with a straight set win over Oskaloosa, while the Bears were 0-3 in pool play action.

Pool "B" housed the host, Valley Falls and like B&B they earned three straight wins taking care of Maranatha, Jackson Heights and McLouth. Maranatha followed in second place in the pool with straight sets wins over Jackson Heights and McLouth for a 2-1 pool play record. McLouth took down Jackson Heights in three sets to go 1-2 in pool play and the Cobras went 0-3.

Pool play set up B&B versus Maranatha in the semifinals and Valley Falls against Doniphan West in the other matchup in the championship bracket. The Falcons sailed past Maranatha in straight sets 25-14, 25-8, while the Dragons won 25-17, 25-18 over the Mustangs of Doniphan West, setting up a Falcon v. Dragons championship match. B&B continued to win and dispatched the Dragons in straight sets 25-16, 25-10 winning their second straight tournament title of the year.

In the third place match it was Maranatha taking down Doniphan West in three sets 25-20, 22-25 and 25-21.

The consolation bracket saw Axtell beat Jackson Heights (25-11, 25-17) and Oskaloosa beat McLouth (25-20, 25-20) in the consolation bracket semifinals. The Eagles then took on the Bears for fifth place and Axtell took home fifth with a straight set win over Oskaloosa 25-17, 25-12. Jackson Heights beat McLouth in three sets for seventh place (26-24, 21-25, 25-15).

Teams now turn their attention to league action down the final stretch of the season and the league tournaments, also on the horizon in the weeks to come.
