Looking to move over .500 and double their win total from last year the Highland Scotties returned home this week to host Coffeyville after a tough lost last week in Hutchinson and this time came out on top notching a close 21-14 win over the Red Ravens.

Despite a lack of running game and 100 yards in penalties the Scotties were able to move the ball on Coffeyville via the aerial assault from quarterback, Brandon Bergeron who was 30-39 for 298 yards and three touchdowns, tossing the ball to eight different guys throughout the day for the Scotties.

Highland struck first as Bergeron connected with Durwin Jones for an eight-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and then the two connected again in the second quarter on a seven-yard score giving the Scotties a 14-0 lead at that point. Scotties weren't down scoring in the first half as Bergeron added his third passing TD this time with a 58-yard strike to Melvin McAdams, giving Highland a 21-0 lead at the half.

Scotties lead that lead until late in the third quarter when the Red Ravens finally struck with points of their own as Coffeyville quarterback, Dakota Collins tossed a 14-yard TD pass to Myles White to make it a 21-7 game going into the fourth quarter. Red Ravens didn't go away quietly as they pushed down the field in the fourth quarter and notched their second score of the game on a six-yard Andre Allen run to cut the Scotties lead to a touchdown at 21-14.

The Scotties next drive took some time off the clock but the Red Ravens had a pair of drives after the second TD score to try and tie the game, but Highland cemented the game in their favor on the last Coffeyville drive when Highland sack, Red Raven quarterback, Collins and forced a fumble that Taylor Shaffer for the Scotties with a 1:24 left in the game and Highland ran out the clock to notch the win.

Highland with the win improved to 4-3 on the season and 3-2 in conference play; the win gives the Scotties double the wins of last year's squad. Highland now gears up to hit the road once again as they will travel to Garden City next Saturday (October 12th) and kickoff at 7:00pm.
