With the classification changes for football released a couple of weeks ago, sights were set on determining districts for the 2014-16 seasons. KSHSAA representatives, coaches and administrators converge together on Wednesday, October 9th in Salina and developed the districts moving forward for the next two years.

We learned few area teams are on the move in their respective classes and that meant some movement in districts for area teams.

In Class 4A the split into division's takes affect with only one area team belonging to the Division I level that being Atchison who will be partnered up with Basehor-Linwood, KC Piper and Tonganoxie in District 1 of Class 4A-Division I.

Class 4A-Division II houses the remaining area teams and all four Big Seven League schools will be paired against each other, as District 1 includes Holton, Royal Valley, Jeff West and Perry Lecompton from the area.

Class 3A is where the big changes happen for area teams as Centralia-Wetmore, McLouth, Oskaloosa and Washington County are all moving up to 3A this year and causing some movement for area teams in their districts. District 1 is the only district with area teams that remained unchanged as Hiawatha, Horton, Sabetha and Riverside will continue to square off for a District title and right for two teams to get into the playoffs.

The changes start in Class 3A, District 2 locally as Nemaha Central (Nemaha Valley and B&B consolidated) remain in the district, along with Rock Creek, but they will have a pair of new opponents in St. Mary's and a new addition to 3A in Centralia-Wetmore.

In District 3 it's Pleasant Ridge, Maur Hill-Mount Academy and ACCHS remaining but they see one of the top 3A teams in the state in Silver Lake leave the district and McLouth an new team to 3A takes their spot. Silver Lake is on the move to District 4 where they will play Rossville and Osage City and a team from the Northeast Kansas league in Oskaloosa who makes the move to 3A.

District 13 is the fifth district that houses area teams in Class 3A, as Marysville previously in District 2 moves to the district and will be paired with TVL team Washington County who moves up to 3A, along with Minneapolis and Riley County (previously in District 2).

Class 2-1A sees some shake up in the area districts also for the coming years with teams moving out of the class up to 3A. In District 1, Troy is the only team that remains in this district from the previous years and they will now be partnered up with Doniphan West, Immaculata, Jefferson County North and Maranatha Academy.

Valley Heights and Jackson Heights both who were in District 1, the last two years move to District 2 this year together and are partnered with Onaga, who moves from District 3 and Valley Falls who remains in District 2. Wabaunsee will also be in the district with those four teams in Class 2-1A.

At the 8-Man ranks, Hanover is moving up to 8-Man Division I and Linn moving down to 8-Man Division II and they basically filled each other's spots in the districts.

District 4 will hold the two area teams in 8-Man Division I ranks as Hanover and Clifton-Clyde will be in the same district along with Lakeside, Rock Hills, Lincoln, Osborne and Wakefield.

For the Division II level, District 1 will continue to house Frankfort, Axtell and Blue Valley-Randolph but will add TVL team Linn in place of Hanover and add two other teams, also. Pike Valley and Southern Cloud will be added to the district making it a six team district.
