Twin Valley League volleyball action continued last night (Tuesday, October 8th) with teams squaring off against each other across the board in the league.

In Baileyville it was a showdown of the top teams in the league in the B&B Falcons and the Centralia Panthers looming to see would take control of the league standings, while a matchup against Hanover was on the docket for both the Panthers and Falcons, also.

First up in the triangular matches on the night was the B&B Falcons taking on the Hanover Wildcats. B&B just a week ago took down Hanover in straight sets at Wetmore and did the same on their home floor flying over the Wildcats in straight sets again 25-10 and 25-13. In set one the Falcons opened the set with four straight points and never looked back, with Jenny Deters providing three service aces in set one as a highlight. Set two saw B&B lead by 10 at one point in the sets and cruise to the match win behind the setting of Ashley Kramer, who set up Laura Sudbeck, Ashley Schmitz and Cassie Hulsing for kills.

Up next things didn't get any easier for Hanover as they took on another top flight team in the state and in the TVL playing Centralia this time. The Panthers made quick work of the Wildcats winning the match in straight sets 25-8 and 25-21. In set one the Panthers opened the set asserting dominance earlier with a huge stretch run of serving by Riley Hanzlik, which include five service aces, while Mayda Stallbaumer was a blocking machine up front all night for Centralia. Set two, Hanover held a lead for majority of the set, even leading by a five-point margin at a few points, but down the final stretch Centralia gained the lead at 20-19 mark and didn't give it up, earning the straight set win.

In the final matchup it was the battle for supremacy in the TVL as both teams went into the match unbeaten in league play but only one would finish the night that way; that was the B&B Falcons who got the best of the Centralia Panthers for the second time this season winning in straight sets 25-23 and 25-19. Set one was a back and forth affair with B&B having an early five straight point tally to lead 7-2, but Centralia responded with four straight to bring it to 7-6 score. Teams traded blows back and forth with Centralia closing to tie it at 20-20, but B&B responded to grab the 21-20 lead and didn't give it up. Set two, saw three straight points as the longest stretch until B&B posted five straight points to take a 20-16 lead and then grab the 25-19 set and match win. The Panthers saw great plays by Liz Hasenkamp on the back row, Kaitlyn Koch up front and Katy Haufler at setter. While, Laura Sudbeck took over late for B&B with Katie Huerter making great defensive plays in the matchup.

All three teams have league action on tap for next Tuesday and then turn their attention to the league tournament coming up on Saturday, October 19th starting at 9:00am.
