Pleasant Rigde, JCN & Royal Valley have Solid Showings at McLouth Invite

Cross country action got going a little early this week with action back on Monday (October 7th) in rescheduled competitions. One of those rescheduled races was the McLouth Invite which featured many area teams with Pleasant Ridge, Jefferson County North and Royal Valley having the best showings for area teams.

The Rams of Pleasant Ridge finished the day with the best team performance and best individual performance from the area, as the girls’ team placed third and senior, Tony Weber raced to another first place finish this season. For the girl's they were led by Hailey Worthington who finished 12th on the day posting a time of 17:29.97, while her teammates Rachel Hattok and Carly Simonis tallied 21st and 22nd place finishes for the Rams on the day.

For senior, Tony Weber it was his second straight first place finish this time posting a time of 16:18.36, nearly 22 seconds better than the second place finisher on the day. His teammate Gabe Younger grabbed a top 20 finish tallying 18th place on the day to add to the top performances for the Rams.

For the Chargers of JCN the girls took home fourth place as a team behind the only area girls top 10 placer in Carissa McAfee who notched a seventh place finish with a time of 16:50.79. Her teammates, Laramie Leakey and Julie Schrick grabbed top 20 performances for the Chargers finishing 19th and 20th, respectively.

On the boy’s side, Devon Wilson led the charge for JCN pacing his way to a fifth place finish with a time of 17:22.46.

The best boys team performance from the area came at the hands of the Royal Valley Panthers who took home fourth place as a team. The Panthers were led by a top 10 performance from Arrow Levier who posted a time of 18:09.16. Black Bowden added another top 20 performance to the Panthers day racing his way to a 13th place finish. In the girls competition it was Kaytlyn Gooderl notching a top 20 finish for the Panthers as she posted a time to grab her a 16th place.

Jeff West and McLouth also left the competition with a top 20 individual placer both in the boy’s competition. For the Tigers it was Jacob Lawhorn notching a 20th place finish and for the Bulldogs Ryan Bristol took home 17th place.

Many teams hit the course once again this week and have their focus on point for the final stretch of the regular season action as Regionals on the horizon later this month.
