 Centralia-Wetmore 36, Jackson Heights 0

The Panthers pitched their fifth shutout of the year and held Jackson Heights to less than 50 yards of total offense in a dominating victory.  No one scored in a sloppy, wet and windy first quarter but a pair of Sam Steinloge touchdown runs from 23 and 1 yard out gave Centralia-Wetmore a 16-0 advantage at halftime.  Jackson Heights managed four of their five first down in the second half but could not score as Devin Rempe picked off a pair of Cobra passes and Jackson Heights lost lead senior runningback, Tim Rupnicki to injury in the second quarter.

The Panthers surpassed 320 yards of offense with a balanced attack, led by quarterback JT Rosine was had a 3 yard touchdown run in the third quarter, then broke free on a 48 yard score to make it 30-0 with 10:14 left to play in the game.  Darrian Turner had a 25 yard TD run to cap the Panthers 36-0 victory.  Rosine had 16 carries for 107 yards while Steinloge added 63 yards on 12 carries and Turner had 55 yards on just 4 totes.  The Centralia-Wetmore defense was the "Players to Bank On" sponsored by the Citizens State Bank and Trust Company in Hiawatha as there were relentless all night improving the Panthers to 9-0 with another District Title.  Centralia-Wetmore has now won 30 of their last 31 games and starts another playoff run hosting Oskaloosa on Friday night.  The 15 consecutive year Twin Valley League champs did have to punt for the second time all season and also had their second turnover of 2013, but everything else went right.

Jackson Heights also was hurt by 10 costly penalties for nearly 100 yards and finishes the season with a 7-2 record; but missed a return trip to the 2-1A Playoffs because of an overtime 18-12 postponed Saturday home loss to Troy in week five.  Still, the Cobras went a perfect 5-0 in the inagural Northeast Kansas League slate and posted their best record since 2002.
