Rossville stays perfect with playoff victory in first round over Pleasant Ridge

Rossville sophomore quarterback Tucker Horak didn’t let the mud slow him down. Horak’s six rushing touchdowns in the first half and the dominating Rossville defense kept the dream season alive as the Bulldogs won 49-0 over the Pleasant Ridge Rams.
 
In the first quarter, Rossville had no problem putting up points in bunches. On the Bulldogs first offensive drive, Rossville executed three plays to get into the endzone by Tucker Horak to lead 7-0 with 9:41 in the first. After a Pleasant Ridge punt, Horak blasted past the goal line from 11 yards out for his second touchdown on the night to give Rossville a 14-0 lead with 6:36 to play in the first quarter.
 
Horak would rush two more times in the first quarter for touchdowns to put Rossville up 28-0 after one quarter of play. In the second, Rossville continued to add yardage to the rushing attack. Horak score two more times and junior halfback Nick Reesor found the endzone once to extend the lead to 49 points at the end of the half.
 
Rossville relied on stifling defense in the second half to finish the game with a 49-0 victory.
 
The Rossville defense picked up its fifth shutout this year. Offensively for the Bulldogs, quarterback Tucker Horak completed five passes for 48 yards, rushed 13 times for 208 and scored six rushing touchdowns. His performance made him a solid selection for the Bank of Atchison player of the game. Junior tailback Nick Reesor carried the ball five times for 74 yards.
 
For Pleasant Ridge, sophomore quarterback rushed for 85 yards on 20 carries while senior runningback Blake Graham recorded 29 yards.
 
Pleasant Ridge ended its season with a 5-5 record while Rossville improved to 10-0 on the year and faces Nemaha Valley this Saturday at 2 pm.
