Sacred Heart Wins and Falls City Comes up Short in Second Round Playoff Action

(KLZA) --  Class D-2 top-ranked Falls City Sacred Heart won their second round playoff game Wednesday at Lyons-Decatur Northeast 56-14.

Sacred Heart fell behind briefly in the first quarter 8-7 but regained the lead at 15-8 and never looked back.  

Junior runningback Sawyer Kean scored six touchdowns on runs of 48, 45, 1, 57, 9 and 3 yards in the game.  Senior quarterback Chaz Dunn scored from 23 and 39 yards in the first quarter of the game.

The Irish, now 10-0 will host Humphrey St. Francis Tuesday at Jug Brown Stadium in the Class D-2 quarterfinals.  The game is set for a 4:30 p-m kickoff.  The 4th ranked Flyers are 9-1 on the season.  They knocked off 7th ranked Fullerton 24-20 on Wednesday. 

The Falls City Tigers season came to an end with a 30-14 loss to Lincoln Christian Wednesday night at Seacrest Field in Lincoln.  After falling behind 12-0 the Tigers made it 12-8 at halftime on a Mitchell Harling to Reese Hogue 8 yard touchdown pass to gain momentum going in at half.

The 7th ranked Crusaders took the momentum back on their first possession of the second half when Logan Power faked a punt and ran 51 yards for a touchdown. The Crusaders extended the lead to 30-8 before Harling ran 54 yards for the final Tiger score.

Power threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more in the game.  

Harling led the Tigers with 164 yards rushing and threw for 130 yards in the game.  Harling and wingback Jordy Stoller both surpassed the 1,000 yard mark in rushing for the season during the game.  

The Tigers finish the year 6-4.
