Centralia's Koch & Axtell's Schmitz Win at Centralia CC Invite

It was the Twin Valley League highlighting the Centralia cross country Invite while a Delaware Valley League girls and boy's team highlighted the event for the Kanzaland area schools.

In the boys competition it was a familiar face coming away with the first place finish individually as Centralia Panther, Lukas Koch raced his way to another event crown doing so in record time. Koch set a new course record at his home Invitational, while setting a new school record at the same time with a time of 15:54. Five other Kanzaland runners finish in the top 10 in the boys competition.

Coming in third place was Frankfort Wildcat, Adam Koch followed by two other TVL runners in fourth and fifth as Dylan Hodgson of Washington County and Tracy Schmitz of Axtell, finished in those spots respectively giving the TVL four of the top five individual finishers on the day.  The other two Kanzaland area runners to place in the top 10 were both from Jefferson County North as Dallas Edwards came in sixth and Devon Wilson placed ninth.

With two top 10 finishers JCN did finish as the highest team on the day for the Kanzaland area teams taking second place, while Washington County placed third. It was Pike Valley taking first place as a team as they had three top 10 finishers on the day.

While the JCN boys got second place as team the Chargers girls cross country squad took home first place as a team four of their runners placed in the top 10 with three of the in the top five. Mallory Kramer, Laramie Leakey, Carissa McAfee placed second, third and fifth respectively on the day, while Jordyn Mize took tenth.

Chargers highlighted things team wise but it Axtell Eagle, Audrey Schmitz highlighting things individually as she won another competition this season and has placed no worse than third this season at any competition she as raced in. Schmitz cruised to a first place finish as she finished with a time of 16:14, which was 39 seconds ahead of second place.

The rest of the top 10 for the girl's competition was full of Kanzaland area runners, as well from four other schools. Clifton-Clyde placed two runners in the top 10 with Abby Sikes and Airika Long taking sixth and seventh, respectively. While it was Madison Stone of Washington County placing fourth, Susan Peschel of Axtell placing eighth joining her teammate Schmitz in the top 10 and Julia Klute of Centralia taking ninth.

Second and third place as a team in the girl's competition went to Washington County and Axtell, respectively on the day.
