Royal Valley Wrestling Takes 9th at Cougar Invitational

After a solid winning dual against Topeka High the Panthers of Royal Valley took to the mat on Saturday to partake in the Cougar Invitational hosted by Shawnee Mission Northwest and came away with a ninth place finish out of the 14 teams competing.

The Panthers on the day was led by seniors, Austin Ashley and Pallas Tye who both came away with second place finishes at their weight classes of 120 and 126lbs, respectively. Ashley finished the day 2-1 in matches earning two pinfall wins to grab a spot in the championship match, where he suffered a 6-2 decision loss to take second place. Tye earned a pinfall and win via decision to get to the championship bout at 126lbs but fell 9-2 via decision in the title match, taking home second place.

Chance Ogden also placed on the day for the Panthers taking fourth place at 170lbs going 2-2 in action. Ogden picked up a pair of wins via decision and a loss a tight third place match 6-4 to take home fourth place on the day.

Zach Lux (132lbs), Noah Hart (138lbs), Bryce Golightley (145lbs), Matthew Bailey (182lbs), Garrett Scultz (195lbs) and Charles Todd (285lbs) all competed on the day for the Panthers, also.

Royal Valley takes to the mat again on Saturday, December 21st when they host a dual tournament in Hoyt.
