Omaha World Herald Selects All State Football and Volleyball Players

 (KLZA) -- The Omaha World-Herald All-State football and volleyball teams have been selected by the Omaha World Herald.

Falls City Sacred Heart Senior Jared Fiegener was selected second team All-Nebraska as a defensive lineman.

D2 State champion Sacred Heart’s Fiegener and Chaz Dunn were named the honorary captains of the Class D2 All-State team.  Fiegener was selected as a defensive lineman and Dunn as Quarterback. They were joined on the first team by teammates Brandon Schawang at Linebacker and Yianni Haralabidis as the kicker.  

Chris Wenzl, a senior at Sterling was named All-State punter in D2.

Syracuse offensive lineman Matt Clark was selected as a First Team All-Nebraska player and was first team selection in C-1.

Honorable mention All-State football honors go to the following players:

Class C-1 – Falls City – Mitchell Harling; Jordy Stoller, Tucker Merz, Derek McCann, Reese Hogue and Jack Harteman.

Auburn – Nate Moran, Caleb Nelson, Rex Harmon and Quintin Boden.

Class C-2 – Johnson County Central – Jay Kuhns and Zac Borenpohl;  

Class D-1 – Johnson-Brock – Nick Stahl;  

Pawnee City – Scott Borcher;

Class D-2 – Falls City Sacred Heart – Colin Niemeyer; Daniel Keithley; Austin Malone; Sean Strasheim; Logan Scheitel; Sawyer Kean.  

Lewiston – Connor Barr;  

Sterling – Trey Trauernicht; Kody Benson; Kale Heusman;

In Vollyeball,  Sterling senior Jordan Lempka was named All-Nebraska Third Team as a hitter.  In addition Lempka was named to the D-2 All-State first team.  

Taylor Menke, a senior at Pioneer Conference school Friend was named All-State in D-1.  In C-2, Carly Remmers, a junior from Freeman was a First Team All-State selection.

Class C-1 – Auburn – Taylor Petersen and Alyson Schlange;  

Falls City – Madison Olberding;  Baylee Vrtidka;  Lindsay Duerfeldt;  Chelsae Campbell;  

Johnson County Central – Lauren Klaasmeyer; Leah Tubbesing; Kori Speckmann;  

Class C-2 – HTRS – Courtney Allen;  Carmen Alexander; Ashton Nanninga;

Class D-1 – Pawnee City – Jenna Habegger; Karli Cabrera;  

Class D-2 – Sacred Heart – Maggie Goltz; Haylee Heits; Ashli Jordan

Sterling – Stasia Nielsen;  Tara Hestermann
