It was a record setting year with points galore at the McLouth Boys Invitational, but when the final buzzer sounded, the Valley Falls Dragons had captured the title with an 84-77 triumph over McLouth.  The win was the ninth in a row for the Dragon boys who are now 12-1 on the season.

Trailing 22-19 entering the second quarter, Valley Falls pulled ahead to lead 40-37 at the break, getting a spark of the bench from Tyler Weishaar who scored 13 of his 15 points in the opening half, and Zac Allen who chipped in 10. McLouth's leading scorer Drew Cerny fouled VF's Marty Gatzemeyer and the two players would then get a technical for something that was said. That didn't hurt Valley Falls, but Cerny went from having two fouls to four and was on the bench primarily the rest of the game. Luke Burns was 12 of 13 from the foul-line in the second half and ended up with 30 points in the championship. Both Weishaar and Allen earned Atchison Bank Player to Bank On honors on KAIR 93.7 FM. Nic McAferty had 20 points for McLouth in the loss and hit four of the Bulldogs nine treys in the contest. Nic Bair and Dylan Dover added 15 points apiece while Wyatt Hermann scored 15. The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for the Bulldogs, who still have yet to win their own tournament.

Four Dragons were named to the All-Touranament Team including Ben Gantz, Marty Gatzemeyer, Gates Glassel and senior MVP, Luke Burns.  "The crowd was awesome and we played complete team basketball to get the wins," noted VF Coach, Caleb Gatzemeyer.

Valley Falls survived a scare from Riverside in the semifinals before escaping with a 65-59 win.

Riverside ended up taking third in their inagural McLouth Tourney as they beat Heritage Christian 67-60 on Saturday. The Cyclones whirled their way to the win after being down six after the first quarter, Riverside posted 23 and 20 in the next two frames. Cyclones were led by a stellar showing by Alex Davidson who put on a scoring show posting 37 points. Heritage Christian was led by Feighner who scored 27 points.

Jeff County North grabbed fifth place after a 51-47 victory against Maranatha as the Chargers fell behind 20-15 after the first quarter but charged back to take the lead going into the half. Chargers were led by Bryce Noll who scored 13 points and Luke Pyle added 11 points. Noll's performance notched him Atchison Bank Player to Bank On honors on KAIR 1470 AM in the contest.

Oskaloosa took home seventh place with a 52-47 win over ACCHS lead by a trio in double figures and a 14-7 start to the game in the first quarter. Bears were lead by Justin Sharp who tallied 18 points, while Luis Rodriguez added 12 points and Bryce Stollemire chipped in 11 points.
