Jeff West Takes First & Royal Valley Second at KC Piper Wrestling Invite

It was a great day for a pair of Big Seven League teams on the mats on Saturday at the KC Piper Invitational as the Jeff West Tigers and the Royal Valley Panthers notched first and second place teams performances, respectively on the day. Maur Hill-Mount Academy also competed on the day finishing 12th out of 12 teams on the day.
 
The Tigers had all 12 wrestlers on the day place 10th place or better with eight guys registering top three finishes in their weight classes finishing with 283 points. Tucker Schreiner (120lbs),  Nathan Holloman 126lbs), Jesse Best (145lbs), Sam Shenk (195lbs) and Justin Scott (285lbs) all took home first place finishes for the Tigers. Schreiner wrapped up his day by going 5-0 on the mats with four pinfall victories and a sudden victory also; three of his four pinfall wins were under a minute. Holloman also registered a 5-0 day picking up three pinfall wins and two wins via decision, including a 7-1 decision in the championship bout. Best earned first place by winning all four of his matches by pin as Schreiner, Holloman and Best all beat Royal Valley wrestlers in the first place matches.
 
Shenk wrapped up a first place finish by going 4-0 with three pinfall wins and a win via decision in his weight class, while Scott continued his dominance as the number one wrestler at 285lbs in Class 4A by going 4-0. All four of Scott's wins were by pinfall yet against and three of them were under 40 seconds including a nine second pinfall win.
 
Josiah Dowding (170lbs) took home second place by going 4-1 with four pinfall wins and fell by decision to Royal Valley grappler, Chance Ogden in the championship bout. RJ Edwards (220lbs) and Austin Michaels (113lbs) each took home third place both going 3-2 in action.
 
Other Tigers that place included Colton Fox (106lbs) placed fourth, Ryan Wisner (132lbs) who earned a seventh place, Jace Holmes (160lbs) took sixth place and Cohl Bohannan (138lbs) placed 10th.
The Royal Valley Panthers registered 242 points for second place as a team a pair of Panthers took home first place finishes and many other had top flight performances, too.
 
Chance Ogden (170lbs) and Matthew Bailey (182lbs) both took home first place helping the team to a second place performance. Ogden posted a 5-0 day with four pinfall wins and won by a 9-2 decision in the title bout. Bailey notched a 3-0 day finishing with a pair of pinfall victories.
 
Austin Ashley (120lbs), Pallas Tye (126lbs) and Bryce Golightley (145lbs) each posted strong showing to notch second place finishes. Ashley posted a 4-1 record with four pinfall wins, Tye and Golightey each finished 3-1 on the day. Noah Hart (138lbs) took home third place with a 3-2 record in action, while Jonathan Frederick-Munsell (152lbs) also finished third with a 3-1 record and Charles Todd (285lbs) also placed third with a 3-1 record on the day. 
 
Other Panthers that placed included Zach Lux (132lbs) and Braden Crowder (220lbs) both placed fifth and Phlyte Wishteyah (195lbs) placed eighth on the day.
 
Maur Hill was led on the day by a fourth, fifth, two sixth and two eighth place finishes at the KC Piper Invite. Emilio Galatas led the Ravens on the day with a fourth place showing at 113lbs going 2-3. Blake Wilson took home fifth place at 126lbs for the Ravens with a 2-3 record. Both Ben Pickman (170lbs) and Austin Geenens (138lbs) each took home sixth place and Sam Panchot (160lbs) and Dave Keister (285lbs) each placed eighth.
