Three Area Teams & 23 Wrestlers Ranked in Latest KWCA Rankings - Jan. 28th

As the wrestling season continues the strong performances continue to come at the hands of many area wrestlers and their teams as three teams and 23 area wrestlers are ranked in the latest KWCA rankings.

Class 4A continues to be dominated by the Holton Wildcats this season as they remain ranked number one as a team sitting atop the perch all season after their State title last year. Six Wildcats are in the rankings this week led by senior, Cooper Zeller at 285lbs who continues to be ranked number two in the latest polls. Sophomore, Jonah Lutz also ranks second in his weight classes of 132lbs moving up one spot this week. Senior, Andrew Rieschick stood steady at number three at 160lbs in the rankings and freshman, Tyler Price continued to check in at number six in the latest poll.

The other two Holton grapplers in the rankings saw their rankings slip this week as sophomore, Justin Rieschick fell from number two to the five spot in the latest rankings at 136lbs, while junior, Lucas Lovvorn fell two spots to number six at 152lbs.

Jeff West Tiger senior, Justin Scott continues to reign supreme at 285lbs checking in at number one this season thus far with a perfect 20-0 record, earning him "Athlete of the Week" honors here at MSCSports.net this week.

While, Atchison Redman senior, Tyler Harris continues to be ranked at 170lbs remaining at number five this week in the latest Class 4A rankings by KWCA.

Class 3A and under has had at least one team from the area in the rankings all season this week two area teams area in the rankings, as ACCHS and Marysville rank in the Top 10.

The Tigers jump back up to number two in the latest polls after slipping to number three last week as a team. Junior, Logan Bowen continues to lead the pack of Tigers wrestlers as he remained ranked second at 132lbs, while senior, Scott Birkinsha stayed put at number three in 170lbs weight class rankings. Tiger freshman, Hunter Ostertag remained at number four in the rankings and senior, Justin Wagner was the only Tiger to move in the rankings up one spot to number four at 152lbs.

Marysville Bulldogs moved into the Top 10 team rankings this week at number 10 with three individual grapplers in the latest polls. Junior, Josh Nelson leads the Bulldogs in the rankings as he continues to be ranked number two at 160lbs, while sophomore, Chris Deters also remained ranked this week at 113lbs but slipped down to number four. Marysville senior, Casey Hilton jumped into the ranking this week checking in at number five at 220lbs.

Doniphan West/Troy wrestling team continues have to have three wrestlers in the rankings as Garrett Dunlap, Trevor Fee and Tristan Speer all have been staples in the polls all season. Mustangs Dunlap and Fee check in at number three and six this week at 160lbs and 170lbs, respectively. For Dunlap he moved up one spot in the latest KWCA rankings. Troy Trojan, Tristan Speer continues to sit atop the 195lbs rankings ranking number one in the polls yet again.

Sabetha Bluejays for the last few weeks have had junior, Jacob Leuthold in the rankings and Jacob remained ranked at number four this week in the 285lbs weight class, while senior, Michael Baumgartner joined him in the rankings this week checking in at number five at 170lbs.

Centralia, Onaga and Riverside all continue to have a wrestler ranked this season, too. Centralia senior, Andrew Beck remained ranked at number three at 152lbs, Onaga junior, Dustin Blow continues to check in at number six at 195lbs, while Riverside senior, Cody Walker continues to hold the number one stop at 220lbs.

The wrestling season has a few weeks left before grapplers turn their attention to postseason wrestling on February 22nd.
