Semifinal = Nemaha Valley 46, Horton 32
Nemaha Valley led 13-8 after one quarter as Horton turned the ball over 10 times in the opening frame.  The Chargers, playing without senior, starting point guard, Keeley Cowley, ended up with 27 turnovers on the night.  Yet, they tied the game at 21 on a trey by Mariah Hisle just before halftime and took a brief 23-21 lead to start the third quarter.  Nemaha Valley then went on a 10-2 run to take control and outscored Horton 25-11 in the second half to secure their second win against the Lady Chargers (7-4) in three games. (51-33 on Friday)  Rachel Baumgartner had 8 of her game-high 15 points in the fourth quarter while Jaci Swart added 10 and Madison Koch had 9 to get NV to 9-3 on the season.  The Lady Raiders also hit 17 of 23 free throws and return to the championship to defend their HIT Title from a year ago.  Mariah Hisle scored 9 and Loagan Rodvelt 8 for Horton, but all those points came in the first half as Horton gets set to battle Falls City in the third place game now on Saturday at 11:30 AM.

Consolation = Hiawatha 59, Riverside 45
It was a much closer and competitive game from the initial meeting, but Hiawatha bounced back from a frustrating first-round loss and outscored Riverside in every quarter to get the win.  Emily Gartner had 31 points for the Lady Hawks while Hosana Fortmeyer added 11 in their fifth win of the seasosn.  Riverside trailed 31-20 at halftime but scored 11 more points than they had in any game this season.  The 45 total was boosted by Jaden Cox with a season-high 18 and Erica Halter's 13.

Consolation = Rock Creek 38, Jackson Heights 35
Jackson Heights used a big second quarter to take a 19-16 lead into the locker room, but Rock Creek won the third period 18-9 and held on for the victory.  Sarah Altenhofen had 11 points and Winter Henry 8 as the Mustangs had 8 players score in their second win of the season.  Jackson Heights (4-9) was led by Payton Thomas with 17 points.  The Cobras will play Riverside for seventh place Saturday at 1:00 PM.

Championship Notes:
Nemaha Valley has won four games in a row and has won the HIT five times, including last year's championship against Troy.  Marysville, who has won games by 40 and 39 in the HIT this week, last won the Hiawatha GIrls Invite in 2007, and was runner-up in 2008, 09, 10, and '11.  They have a handful of HIT titles as well, but lost to NV in the semifinals last season, 55-37.  These teams, along with 10-2 Sabetha, are also in the same 3A Sub-State at Horton this March.

 The Nemaha Valley vs. Marysville championship game Saturday at 2:30 will be broadcast live on 92.1 KMZA Radio and online at www.mscsports.net by clicking listen live and KMZA play-by-play.
