Fresh on winning back-to-back Class 4A team championships with his Holton Wildcats, Coach Cully Jackson has been selected to lead the Kansas Team in the U.S. Army Classic wrestling dual on March 11th at Kansas City Kansas Community College.  Jackson was selected by the U.S. Army Metro Classic Wrestling Committee for his ability to coach and relate to young wrestlers.

Cully was also presented the KWCA 2013-14 Class 4A High School Wrestling "Coach of the Year" during the state tournament in Salina last weekend for the second year in a row.

“It justifies everything we did last year,” Holton head coach Cullen Jackson said. “Last year was kind of a different year. We did it with a lot of fifth place guys and guys coming through the back door. This year’s group really wanted to make sure they let everybody know we were legit.”

Since Coach Jackson arrived at Holton High School four years ago, the Mat Cats have won all four Big 7 League wrestling titles and finished with a 53-4 dual record, without any league dual loss.  The 2014 Regional Title was the first in school history, and the back-to-back state team titles are also the first for Holton High Wrestling.

The senior class won over 900 individual matches in their four years and placed 1st in 19 tournaments as a team.  Individual career records for varsity seniors were:  Jonah Lutz - 112-32, Andrew Rieschick - 132-25, Kyle Mick - 77-50, Clayton Folk - 41-41, Bradley Hooper - 63-42, Cooper Zeller - 83-27.
