Postseason play started up on the girl’s side in the Class 1A-Division I at Valley Heights and at the end of the night Hanover and Centralia both continued their seasons with wins over Doniphan West and Frankfort.

The night started off with the four versus five seed matchup as the Doniphan West Mustangs squared off with the Hanover Wildcats. Game early was a tight competition as it was 8-8 after the first quarter, but Hanover shutdown Doniphan West in the second quarter limiting them to one field goal and outscoring them 14-2 in the period to take the 22-10 lead into halftime.

Wildcats continued to extend that lead with a 12-6 third quarter and put things out of reach for Doniphan West who struggled offensively throughout the night hoisting over 20 three-pointers and only able to connect on three. Hanover earned the 36-21 win over Doniphan West.

With the loss the Mustangs saw their season come to a close finishing the year 11-10, has Scotti Twombly lead the way in the loss with nine points.

Hanover with the win improved to 12-10 on the season and moves into the semifinals on Friday were they will take on the number one seed in the sub-state in Valley Heights. Wildcats on the night were led by Abby Richter who scored 10 points and earned the Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on KMZA.

The second game of the night’s double-header was the one that highlighted the night as the Frankfort Wildcats and Centralia Panthers squared off in the six versus three seed matchup. Just like the regular season matchup between the rivals this matchup needed overtime to decide the winner, too.

Both teams traded blows back and forth early in the game with three-point buckets dropping like raindrops for both teams, but Centralia managed to establish a post presence inside early along with the outside shooting to lead 16-11 after the first quarter and then push that lead to 29-19 at the half with a 13-8 second quarter.

Frankfort didn't go away quietly as the senior tandem of Ashley Joseph and Arianna Martin along with their teammates brought the Wildcats back into the game, closing the lead to seven after three quarters and then was down two in the final seconds of regulation, as solid free throw shooting in the second half helped them back into the game. Wildcats hoisted up a shot inside the paint to tie the game and miss fired, but got the rebound, miss again but again got a rebound and then another but ultimately right as the buzzer sounded Abra Shirley's put back was good and the game was headed to overtime.

In overtime Frankfort took the early lead and up by two late into the overtime period, Centralia fired up a three-pointer by Chelsea Huerter and drained it to take the one-point lead. Frankfort with 7.2 seconds left to go had one final opportunity but missed on a layup and Centralia was fouled on the rebounding, making one of two free throws to grab the 53-51 win in overtime.

With the loss Frankfort ends their season 5-16 and was led by their seniors, Joseph and Martin who scored 17 and 16 points, respectively on the night.

Centralia with the win improved to 13-9 on the year and advanced to the semifinals to play the two seeded Linn on Friday night in Blue Rapids. Panthers were led by Chelsea Huerter who scored 12 points, including what proved to be the game winning three-pointer, earning her the Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on KMZA. Liz Hasenkamp chipped in 10 points for Centralia while Kaitlyn Koch and Cassidy Haufler each scored nine points.

The 1A-Division sub-state at Valley Heights continues Thursday night with the boys action as Valley Heights will play Linn and Centralia will play Hanover; games will be 92.1 KMZA starting at 6:00pm. The Girls semifinals will be Friday night with Valley Heights playing Hanover and Centralia playing Linn and will both games will be on 92.1 KMZA.
