All State Honors for Southeast Nebraska Basketball Players

 (KLZA)--The Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star All-State Basketball Teams were released over the weekend.

Several area players received all-state honors in both papers.

Sacred Heart sophomore Maggie Goltz was named All-State in class D2 in both newspapers along with Sterling Senior Jordan Lempka.

For the boys named All-State in D2 in both papers was Sacred Heart senior Chaz Dunn.  Matt Goltz an Irish senior was named All-State in the Lincoln Journal Star and 2nd team All-State in the World Herald.

Abby Magdanz from Sacred Heart was named 2nd team All-State in the Lincoln paper and was honorable mention All-State in the Omaha paper.

Girls All-State honors went to Taylor Menke, a senior from Friend in Class D1 in both papers.  Cole Schuster of Freeman was named 2nd team All-State in C-2 by the Lincoln Journal Star while his teammate Isaac Frerichs was named 2nd team All-State by the World Hearld. 

Among those named honorable mention All-State were: 

Girls: 

Class C1 – Brooke Scheitel, Baylee Vrtiska and Sydney Armbruster from Falls City; 

Hannah Borrenpohl and Courtney Eltiste from Johnson County Central.

Hannah Brown from Auburn;  

Julia Reed from Syracuse.

C2 – Jena Fink of Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer;

Kelsie Buss from Southern.

D1 – Jenna Habegger and Karli Cabrera from Pawnee City;  Torie Rowe and Erin Bohling from Johnson-Brock; 

D2 – Haylee Heits and Elizabeth Magdanz from Falls City Sacred Heart;  Taylor Cockerill, Erika Goracke and Tara Hesterman from Sterling. 


Boys:

Class C1 – Mitchell Harling,  Jordy Stoller, Reese Hogue and Jack Hartman from Falls City;  

Mitch Faris and Grant Badertscher from Johnson County Central; 

D1 – Nick Stahl and Kirby Neufeld from Johnson-Brock;

Scott Borcher and Chase Grizzle from Pawnee City.

D2 – Collin Niemeyer and Austin Malone from Sacred Heart.

Cutter Singleton from Lewiston.
