Peru State and Benedictine Split Softball Doubleheader

The Peru State softball team split a double header with Benedictine College on Monday in Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) action which was twice postponed due to Mother Nature. The Bobcats took the first game 11-8 and then dropped the second game 7-4 in what was the last conference play in the regular season.

With the split, Peru State is now 29-22 on the season and 8-10 in the HAAC while the Ravens finished 9-9 in conference play and 16-21 overall. The action determined that Benedictine would be the fifth seed in the upcoming HAAC post-season tournament this week with the Bobcats finishing as the sixth seed.

The Bobcats will face third-seed Evangel University at 4 p.m. on Thursday in Olathe, Kan.  All first round games will be played at 4 p.m.

Since it is a double elimination tournament, all eight teams will play again Friday morning at 11 a.m.  Win or lose, the Bobcats would face either second-seeded MidAmerica Nazarene University or seventh-seeded Culver-Stockton College.  The rest of the tournament will take place on Thursday, Friday, and will conclude on Saturday, Mother Nature allowing.
