Northeast Kansas League Teams & ACCHS Compete Against Each Other at Pleasant Ridge Track Invite

Eight area teams took to the track early in the week to compete against each other with one other team, also at the Pleasant Ridge Invitational.

Seven of the nine teams in the Northeast Kansas League competed on the day along with ACCHS from the area, too and Christ Prep rounded out the nine team field of competition. At the end of the day it was the only non-area school in Christ Prep taking first as a team in both the boys and girls competition.

On the girl’s side of competition, Christ Prep took first and was followed by Jefferson County North who placed second, while ACCHS finished third as a team. The rest of the team finishes were: 4th - Pleasant Ridge, 5th - McLouth, 6th - Maur Hill-Mount Academy, 7th - Oskaloosa, 8th - Valley Falls and 9th - Immaculata.

For the boys, Christ Prep claimed first place as a team, followed by Maur Hill-Mount Academy who took home second place and Pleasant Ridge placed third. The rest of the team finishes were: 4th - Valley Falls, 5th - McLouth, 6th - Jefferson County North, 7th - Oskaloosa, 8th - Immaculata and 9th ACCHS.

Jefferson County North paced the way for top area performances on the day as the Chargers earned nine first place finishes in the girls and boys competition's combined. Seven of the nine first place showings came in the girl’s competition for the Chargers and five of those seven came in the field events. Jacee Kramer led the charge in the field tossing her way to wins both the javelin (107'04) and shot put (34'10), while Heather Polson, Jamie Navinskey and Lauryn Baker all leapt their way to wins. Polson won the high jump (4'10), Navinskey won the long jump (16'01.50) and Baker claimed first in the triple jump (31'03.50). The Chargers relay teams also won a pair of golds winning the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays with times of 52.58 and 4:22.06, respectively. On the boys side of competition Luke Pyle came away with a pair of gold medal finishes tossing his way to wins in both the discus (140'11.50) and javelin (165'05).

Both Valley Falls and Pleasant Ridge each had four first place performances on the day at the Pleasant Ridge Invitational.

For the Dragons all four gold medals came in the boy’s competition as Max Badgett, Reid Bunde, Tanner Brown and Dalton Morrow all won events. Badgett leapt his way to the win in the long jump (18'09.25), while Bunde also won a field event tossing his way to the shot put win (40'10.50). On the track Morrow posted a time of 2:08.11 to win the 800 meter run and Brown registered a time of 18.52 to win the 110 meter hurdles.

The host team of the meet, Pleasant Ridge had three of their four first place finishes come in the boys competition as Matt Smith, Kyle Lansing and the Rams 4x100 relay team claimed gold. Smith took home the gold in the triple jump (41'00), while Lansing won the high jump (6'00) and the Rams 4x100 team posted a time of 44.99 to win gold. Grace McKinney won the other gold for Pleasant Ridge as she claimed the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.19.

McLouth Bulldogs posted three first place finishes on the day as Drew Cerny won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes in the boy’s competition with times of 10.83 and 22.71, while Anna Moore took home first in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 50.80.

Maur Hill and ACCHS each had a pair of first place finishers on the day all on the track in the competition. For the Ravens the boys 4x400 meter relay team posted a time of 3:36.52 to claim first place, while Adam Wagner won the 400 meter dash behind a time of 51.90. ACCHS saw their first place finishes won by Madison Bissell and Jesse Noll. Bissell claimed the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:42.00, while Noll won the 300 meter hurdles behind a time of 46.14.
