Holton Wins Maur Hill Boys Golf Invitational, While Atchison Golfer Has Best Individual Day

It was a beautiful day for golf action on Tuesday as Maur Hill-Mount Academy hosted eight other schools for boys golf action as seven of the teams competing hailed from the Northeast Kansas area.

The Holton Wildcats continued to dominate and notched another team victory on the golf course this season putting together a 4-Man team score of 320, winning by 19 strokes. The host team, Maur Hill-Mount Academy took home second place with a 339, followed by Bishop Ward in third place with 358. The rest of the team finishes were: 4th - Immaculata (379), 5th - Hiawatha (382), 6th - Atchison (383), 7th - Bonner Springs (403), 8th - Royal Valley (434) and 9th - Horton (485).

Holton Wildcats on their way to the team title on the day were led a pair of top five finishes and all six golfers posted top 15 finishes on the day. Ethan Holaday paced the Wildcats with a third place finish individually with a 78, while Braden Sides notched a fifth place finish with a round of 79. Kenton Tegethoff and Preston Sides rounded out the Wildcats 4-Man team score with rounds of 81 and 82, respectively earning them sixth and seventh place individually. Garett Beecher and Walker Degendhardt also enjoyed solid days for Holton finishing tenth and fifteenth, respectively with rounds of 85 and 88.

For the host team Maur Hill they were led by four top 15 individual performances on their way to second place as a team on the day. The Ravens were led by Christian Wessel who finished eighth with a round of 83. While, Mark McDermed, Canyon Miller and Patrick Sullivan all finished in the top 15, taking eleventh, twelfth and fourteenth place behind rounds of 85, 85 and 86. Skylar Busenbarrick and Sam Sowers also competed for Maur Hill notching rounds of 95 and 97.

The top individual performance came at the hands of Gabe Julo of Atchison who continues to win events this season, notching the win at the Maur Hill Invite with a 69, four strokes better than second place. Jase Nelson (100), Dylon LeBlue (102), Dalton Bartlett (112), Micah Dulac (137) and Katelyn Truman (140) also competed for the Redmen.

Immaculata's top performance came at the hand of Dawson Schroeder who registered a fourth place finish posting a round of 79 to lead the Raiders. Evan Wheaton, Ian Wheaton and Jacob Murphy rounded out the Raiders team on the day posting rounds of 92, 101 and 107, respectively.

On their way to a fifth place team finish the Hiawatha Red Hawks were led by Taylor Jacobsen on the day, who finished thirteenth with an 85 on the day. Josh Sangrait, Jordan Ball, Zach Perry and Tom Nolte also competed for the Red Hawks posting rounds of 90, 98, 109 and 112, respectively.

Both Royal Valley and Horton didn't have a top 15 finisher on the day but had six and four competitors, respectively on the day. Royal Valley was led by Erich Wiedmann who finished just outside of the top 15 posting a round of 89. Andrew Henderson, Caleb Bohnenkamper, Brandon Anderson, NomkiWash Potts and Max Hennis also competed for the Panthers scoring rounds of 107, 117, 121, 137 and 144. For the Horton Chargers Cameron Smith posted the best round of the day with a 105, while Reed Lobdell, Rex Bruning and Rylee Rodvelt posted rounds of 118, 128 and 134.
