Multiple area teams took to the golf course yesterday hoping avoid Mother Nature but with weather in the Northeast Kansas area the Perry Lecompton boys golf Invitational was cut short to just eight holes and scored on an over/under par basis.

The Jeff West Tigers put together the best eight holes on the day to claim first place as a team finishing +20, six strokes better than the second best team score on the day. Perry Lecompton, Maur Hill-Mount Academy, Immaculata, Royal Valley, Atchison and Horton all had teams compete on the day from the area along with six other schools.

Maur Hill Raven, Pat Sullivan put together the best eight hole score taking first via tie-breaker behind a +3 round, as three other guys finished +3 also. That group included Jeff West Tiger, Aaron Brooks who placed fourth with his +3. Gabe Julo rounded out the top five individual scores with a +4 to give him a fifth place finish.

Six other athletes from area teams posted top 15 finishes at the Perry Lecompton Invitational. Evin Wheaton of Immaculata placed eleventh with a +6, while Connor Mickens of Jeff West, Jacob Morgison of Perry Lecompton and Chase Holthaus of Jeff West all also shot a +6, to finish twelfth, thirteenth and fourteenth, respectively.

Horton also competed in the competition with Cameron Smith and Rylee Rodvelt posting the best round for the Chargers each shooting a +18.
