Linn Girls Win Rock Hills Invite, While Hanover Boys Take Second

Three Twin Valley League teams in Linn, Hanover and Washington County travelled to Mankato to compete in the Rock Hills Invitational on Friday and posted great performances.

In the girls competition 13 teams competed and it was the Linn Bulldogs that took home first place winning by four points over St. John's. Washington County and Hanover both notched top 10 team finishes taking fourth and sixth place, respectively.

On the boys side of competition the Hanover Wildcats notched the best area performance finishing second place as a team just 9.5 points behind first place, while Washington County placed fourth and Linn took fifth place.

Linn Bulldogs in competition came away with six first place finishes in the events at the Rock Hills Invitational. On the girls side of competition Linn claimed the 4x100 and 4x800 meter relay titles with times of 51.07 and 11:10.25, respectively. Brooke Diederich, Acacia Thalmann, Kesiah Thalamann and Kendra Bargman made up the Bulldogs 4x100 team, while Rachel Bott, Hunter York, Maggie Bott and Nicole Ohlde all ran together to win the 4x800 relay for Linn. In the boy’s competition, Kurt Van Der Mewe continued to sprint to gold winning the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 11.05 and 22.70. While, Chad Gross and Josh Meyer each won a field event for the Bulldogs winning the high jump (6'08) and javelin (155'08), respectively.

Hanover Wildcats brought home five first place performances with four of the five coming in the boys side of competition. The quartet of Andrew Bruna, Evan Zabokrtsky, Matthew White and Preston Jueneman raced their way to gold in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 45.60, while Jueneman and Zabokrtsky partnered with Austin Diederich and Trey Loshe to win the 4x400 relay behind a time of 3:33.96. Jueneman also added a gold medal in the 400 meter dash (51.38) to his day, while Ethan Fritschi won the shot put (49'08.50). Katelyn Jueneman claimed the lone Hanover gold in the girls competition winning the long jump (16'01).

For Washington County, Erin Alexander continued her strong track season winning the shot put (43'01) and the discus (110'03.50), while Kyle Edgar took home gold in the long jump (20'07).
