Vermillion Boys Golf Team Wins Twin Valley League Tournament

With the regular season coming to a close the Twin Valley League took to the course on Monday to square off in the league golf tournament and it was Vermillion (Frankfort & Centralia) coming out on top winning by 22 strokes as a team.

Vermillion posted a 4-Man team score of 361 to claim first place at Spring Creek golf course in Seneca the host of the TVL tournament this year. Washington County Tigers placed second as a team with a 383, while B&B Falcons the host school took third as a team with 394. Valley Heights was only four strokes behind B&B tallying a 396 team score to take fourth, while Onaga took fifth as a team with a 402. Linn only had one competitor on the day not having enough to field a 4-Man team.

Individually it was Onaga Buffalo, Lucas Helget claiming first place posting a round of 83 to win the TVL title by three strokes. Valley Heights Mustang, Alec Doner followed in second place with an 86, while a pair of Washington County Tigers took third and fourth behind rounds of 86 and 88, as Hunter Johnson and Evan Oullette posted those marks. Jason Gore rounded out the top five finishing fifth place with an 88 on the day.

B&B and Vermillion had the next six top flight finishes on the day, accounting for sixth through eleventh place. B&B Falcon, Blake Scism took home sixth place shooting an 89 on the day while his teammate Cameron Haug notched a 95 to place tenth. For Vermillion Danny Mueting, Brett Kenworthy and Ryan Vernon finished seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively on the day with rounds of 89, 89 and 95. While Brett Burdiek took home eleventh place for Vermillion posting a 95, also on the day.

Finishing out the individual medalists was Valley Heights Mustang, Patrick Hale who took home twelfth place after posting a 96 on the day.

Twin Valley League teams now turn their attention to Regionals coming up on Monday May 19th. B&B, Valley Heights, Linn, Centralia and Frankfort will all compete in 1A Regional at the Herington Country Club in Herington as Lost Springs-Centre will host. While, Washington County and Onaga will both compete in the 2A Regional at Belleville Country Club in Belleville as Republic County will be the host.
