Mound City Girls Win Second Straight State Track Title

For the second consecutive year the Mound City girls are the Class I Missouri State Track Champions.  The Lady Panthers scored 55 points at the State Meet Friday and Saturday.  Polo was second with 39, Worth County 9th with 22, Nodaway-Holt was 16th with 18 points and South Holt had 4 teams points.  

Mound City sophomore Emily Wedlock won gold medals in both hurdle races for the second consecutive year.  She ran the 100 meter hurdles in 15.77 and the 300 meter hurdles in 46.48 to win the titles.  Wedlock also placed second in the long jump and 6th in the 200 meters.  

Also winning individual medals were sophomore Kendey Eaton with a 3rd place finish in the 3200 and 6th place finish in the 1600.  Senior Roanne Bonke was 6th in the discus. 

The Panther relay teams also did well with a 4th place finish in the 4 x 400 relay, that was Janine Bludau – sr.  Mae Sanders – sp.  Adrienne Messer – fr.  And Carley Baker – fr. 

The 4 x 200 relay team was 5th,  Lily Grant – sr.  Messer, Sanders and Baker made up the squad and the 4 x 100 relay team was 6th, that was Grant, Bludau, Sanders and Baker.

Nodawy-Holt senior Megan Rosenbohn placed 2nd in the 400 meters and 3rd in the triple jump.

South Holt junior McKenzi Prussman was 4th in the pole vault. 

For the boys Rock Port tied for 10th in the team standings with 24 points.  Mound City has 7 team points. 

Individually Rock Port senior Eric Duncan won four medals at state.  He was 2nd in the high jump clearing 6’4”;  3rd in the long jump and triple jump and finished 5th in the 100 meters.

Mound City senior Dayne Messer placed 3rd in the 200 meters and the Panther 4 x 800 relay team of Josh Johnson - sr.  Hayden Marrs – jr.  Dalton Dreher – sr. and Dayne Messer – sr.  placed 8th. 

Tarkio senior Trev Martin placed 7th in the pole vault.
