Onaga & Washington County Golfers Compete at 2A State Tournament

Both Onaga and Washington County were represented at the Class 2A State boys golf tournament on Tuesday in Hays at Fort Hays Municipal golf course.

The Buffalos with a pair of State golfers notched the top area performances of the day, as Lucas Helget registered a round of 80 to finish 21st at State, while his teammate Jace Fisher shot a 94, to finish 62nd place at State for Onaga.

Washington County who qualified for State as a team had six golfers at the State competition and finished 11th out of 12 teams in the four-man score posting a 402 team score. Hunter Johnson posted the best individual round for the Tigers scoring a 98 on the day, while Evan Ouellette scored a 99, Matt Smith a 102 and Tyson Hynek a 103 for the Tigers four-man team score. Taylor Metz and Colton Linenberger also competed for the Tigers at State registering rounds of 115 and 126, respectively.

The top team score on the day was by Olpe who posted a 318, while Ellis golfer, Skyler Tebo notched the best individual round 66 at the Class 2A State boys golf tournament in Hays.
