(KTNC)--The Falls City Tigers improved to 2-0 on the season with a convincing 52-20 win over Fairbury Friday night in Fairbury.

The Tigers' took the lead on the opening possession, marching 70 yards on 12 plays - all on the ground - and taking 6:01 off the clock. Senior Jordy Stoller capped the drive with an 18 yard run to stake Falls City to an 8-0 lead.

The Tigers added another score late in the first quarter. After a Fairbury punt pinned Falls City inside their one-yard-line, the Tigers drove 99 yards for the score, with Weston Witt running it in from 2-yards out. The big play on the drive was a 75-yard run by Jack Hartman that gave Falls City a first-and-goal at the Jeffs' five yard line. Falls City led 16-0 after one quarter.

Fairbury got on the board early in the second quarter, when freshman running back Jacob Johnson scored on an 8-yard run to make the score 16-6 with 10:37 left in the half.
Falls City then blew the game open, with four consecutive touchdowns.

Brenden Heckenlively scored on a one-yard run and Stoller had touchdown runs of 25 and 55 yards sandwiched around a Jack Hartman to Brenden Heckenlively touchdown pass to put Falls City up 46-6 with 4:12 left in the second quarter.

Fairbury answered Stoller's 55-yard TD when Nate Klaumann returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown to make the score 46-12.

Falls City added one more touchdown before halftime on another 25-yard Stoller run to make the score 52-12 at the half.

That would be the final points of the game for the Tigers. All but the final minute-and-a-half of the second half was played with a running clock with Falls City ahead by more than 35 points.
Fairbury scored in the fourth quarter on a safety and a late touchdown when quarterback Dalton Hinrichs connected with Johnson on a 43-yard screen pass with 1:38 remaining in the game.

For the game, Falls City rushed the ball for more than 400 yards, including 141 yards on 10 carries for Hartman and 156 yards on eight carries for Stoller.

Things get more difficult for the Tigers this week. Falls City plays its first home game of the season against Ashland-Greenwood, which beat Syracuse 28-13 Friday night.
