Sabetha Wins Home Girls Tennis Quad, While Immaculata & Hiawatha Have Solid Performers

Three area teams and one other meet up on the tennis courts Thursday as the Sabetha Bluejays hosted a quad competition with Hiawatha, Immaculata and Hayden.

At the end of the day the Bluejays continued their momentum form the previous day and their first place team finish at the Seaman Invitational as they picked up the team win at their home quad behind three first place finishes and one second place. For the second straight day Courtney Plattner posted a 3-0 record in competition winning the singles #1 competition as she won 7-3 over both Hayden and Immaculata, while winning 7-5 against Hiawatha. In singles competition number #2, Laura Edelman competed for the Bluejays and finished the day with a 2-1 record to take home second place. Edelman notched wins over Immaculata, 7-0 and Hiawatha 7-0, while falling to Hayden 7-1.

In doubles competition the tandem of Abby Manning and Lindsey Chadwell partnered up for a 3-0 day in doubles #1 beating Hiawatha 7-0, Immaculata 7-2 and Hayden 7-3. While, the group of Savanna Metzger and Lilly Brownlee also went 3-0 on the day in doubles #2, with a 7-1 win over Hiawatha, 7-3 win over Hayden and a tight win over Immaculata 7-6 (7-1).

The Raiders of Immaculata were highlighted by a pair of second place showings by their doubles teams as the team of Priscila Hernandez and Elena Nine went 2-1 in doubles #1, posting wins over Hiawatha 7-0 and Hayden 7-6 (7-4). The team of Addie Vargas and Abbie Eddy also posted a 2-1 record coming in doubles #2, registering wins over Hiawatha 7-0 and Hayden 7-3. In singles competition M. McGill finished 1-2 in competition #2 for Immaculata, while Shelby Pease went 0-3.

For Hiawatha the day was highlighted by Lydia Lierz who finished second in singles #1 competition posting a 2-1 record on the day. Lierz notched a 7-5 win over Immaculata and 7-3 win over Hayden. Morgan Ward competed in the singles #2 competition and the teams of Emily Meyer and Josie May, along with Savannah Dunovan and Jacklyn Geiger competed in doubles #1 and #2, respectively for the Red Hawks on the day and went 0-3 in competition.

Next up for both Sabetha and Hiawatha they will competed against each other and other teams on Saturday, September 13th as Hiawatha hosts an Invitational, while Immaculata will hit the courts again on Tuesday, September 16th at their home Invitational.
